T-20 Cricket

Congratulations to the following girls who competed in the Greater Western T-20 Cricket Championships last Wednesday in Ballarat – Alexis Perkins, Macey Foster, Sophie Wheadon, Natalie Farquharson, Ruby Hay, Jemma Howat, Sadie Ritchie, Asha  Mahoney and Gemma Parker. The girls were the overall winners on the day winning all their matches. The girls now qualify for the State Cricket on the 29th November at the Ian Johnson and Harry Trot Ovals, St Kilda.

A big thankyou to the parents and grandparents who supported the event.

Colac Division Golf Tournament

Last Friday a number of our students competed in the Colac Division Golf Tournament at the Colac Golf Club. This was a great day, and the golf skills improved throughout the day. Our top scorers at Sacred Heart for 9 holes were Isaac McGuane – 46, Lucas Rodger, Kade Mason, Talon Borch and Henry Stinchcombe - 50, and Charlie Kidman – 52. A big thank you to all the parents/grandparents helped out on the day. Also thanks to Peter Lucas, Michael Bainbridge and the Colac Golf Club for their support.

Riding Champion

A big congratulations to Zoe Medley, who competed in the ‘Horse of the Year’ competition in Werribee. Zoe came first in the ‘Owner Rider’ competition and second in her ‘Rider Class’. This qualifies her for Grand Nationals in Sydney next year. We wish Zoe all the best.

 

 

 

Foundation - 5 Activity Day

On Friday 22nd November, all students will participate in the Foundation – Year 5 Activity Day. Each year level will travel to a different school.

 

The following is:

Foundation – Colac West Primary School

Year 1 – Elliminyt Primary School

Year 2 – St Mary’s Primary School

Year 3 – Colac Primary School

Year 4 – Colac South West Primary School

Year 5 – Sacred Heart Primary School

 

Unfortunately our Year 2 students will not be able to attend this event because they have their very exciting trip to the Werribee Zoo.

Our year 6 students will be the leaders of the sporting activities for all the Year 5 students who will visit Sacred Heart.

Foundation, Year 3 and Year 4 will travel by bus to their allocated school at 9:00am. The Year 1 students will walk to Elliminyt Primary School. All year levels will return to school between 11:15am -11.45am. All students need to wear their sports uniform and school hat. Please apply sunscreen before you come to school. Students will also need their fruit, snacks and drink bottle. We do need parents to help on the day, so please indicate on the PAM permission if you can assist. 

Parents are also welcome to visit the school where their child is participating in the sporting activities.

State AFL 9’s Football

Congratulations to our boys and girls teams who have made it through to the State AFL 9’s Football competition. The students in the boy’s team are Bodhi Baker, Max Mitchell, 

Jack Seuren, Hudson Oborne, Dusty McCrimmon, Brock Jamieson, Jock Melville, 

Zaiden Finn, Finley Geary, Brady Hickey, Kade Genua and Alfie Doyle. The students in the girl’s team are Macey Foster, Asha Mahoney, Hemi Babington, Natalie Farquharson, Ruby Hay, Jemma Howat, Scarlett Smith, Asha McNaughton, Regan Smart, Tahlia Kelly and Ruby Nowell.

This event will take place at Latrobe University (Tony Sheehan Oval). Students will travel by bus to this event.

St Mary’s Summer Sport

Due to unforeseen circumstances, we never got the chance to play against St Mary’s Primary School in the Winter Sport Competition. Therefore we have decided to get together on Friday 29th November to have a sports session between recess and lunch time. The sports offered to our Year 5 and 6 students are Cricket, T-Ball, Hot Shots Tennis, Soccer, and Volleyball. Students will travel by bus to this event.

Year 5 and 6 Swimming

Our students in Year 5 and 6 will attend swimming lessons at Bluewater from Monday 9th December – Friday 13th December. Swimming is part of the school curriculum, so it is important that all the students support this program.

Name: Grace Rey (Yr 6TR)

1. What sports do you play? The sport I play is netball.

2. Which sport is your favourite to play? My favourite sport to play is netball.

3. Why is this your favourite sport? Netball is my favourite sport because it’s never boring and there are lots of positions you can play on the court.

4. What is your proudest sporting moment? My proudest sporting moment was when my netball team was in the finals and we were one point away from winning.

5. What are your strengths that help you with sport? My strength in sport is my fast reflexes, because they help me defend the ball and catch the ball.

6. Why do you love playing sports? I love playing sport because it is fun and competitive.

7. Who is your favourite sports person? My favourite sports players are the Vixen netball team players.

8. Why are they your favourite? The vixen netballers are my favourite players because they are good to watch and you can learn from them.

9. What is your favourite sporting team? My favourite sports team is the Geelong Cats.

10. How would your coaches and teammates describe you? My coach and team mates would say that I am bubbly and funny, and that I try hard when I am on the netball court.

1. What sports do you play? The sports I play are football, tennis, cricket, basketball and soccer.

2. Which sport is your favourite to play? My favourite sport to play is cricket.

3. Why is this your favourite sport? Cricket is my favourite sport because I love to bat.

4. What is your proudest sporting moment? My proudest sporting moment was when I got the winning wicket in the cricket match.

5. What are your strengths that help you with sport? My strengths in sport are my speed and my positivity.

6. Why do you love playing sports? I love playing sport because I like to keep active and it is fun.

7. Who is your favourite sports person? My favourite sports person is Gary Ablett Junior.

8. Why are they your favourite? Ablett is my favourite player because he had great skills and was one of the best ever players for Geelong.

9. What is your favourite sporting team? My favourite sports team is Geelong.

10. How would your coaches and teammates describe you? My coach and team mates would say that I am a good defensive player and I am accurate with my passes in football and basketball.

Name: Toby Mahoney (Yr 4DC)

1. What sports do you play? The sports I play are cricket and soccer.

2. Which sport is your favourite to play? My favourite sport to play is soccer.

3. Why is this your favourite sport? Soccer is my favourite sport because it is fun and I get to play with my friends.

4. What is your proudest sporting moment? My proudest sporting moment was when I got my first wicket in cricket.

5. What are your strengths that help you with sport? My strengths in sport is that I am fast and I work hard for my team.

6. Why do you love playing sports? I love playing sport because I like running around.

7. Who is your favourite sports person? My favourite sports person is Australian cricketer - Glenn Maxwell.

8. Why are they your favourite? Maxwell is my favourite player because he is a very good cricketer and I want to play like he does.

9. What is your favourite sporting team? My favourite sports team is the Renegades.

10. How would your coaches and teammates describe you? My coach and team mates would say that I am a good sport and that I try very hard when I play sport.

Name: Alisha Hodgson (Yr 3KM)

1. What sports do you play? The sports I play are basketball and dance.

2. Which sport is your favourite to play? My favourite sport to play is dance.

3. Why is this your favourite sport? Dance is my favourite sport because I love jazz dance and I love the stretching we do in dance.

4. What is your proudest sporting moment? My proudest sporting moment was when I was involved in our dance performance.

5. What are your strengths that help you with sport? My strength in sport is my flexibility.

6. Why do you love playing sports? I love playing sport because it keeps me fit and I have a lot of fun.

7. Who is your favourite sports person? My favourite sports people are my dance teachers.

8. Why are they your favourite? My dance teachers are my favourite people because they teach me lots with dance.

9. What is your favourite sporting team? My favourite sports team is Collingwood.

10. How would your coaches and teammates describe you? My coach and team mates would say that I love doing what I do.
