Parliament incursion
Students had the opportunity to participate in a Parliament incursion, where they learnt about how Australia's government works. It was an interesting experience for many as students were able to create a mock government and see how a parliament functions up close.
First, we learned about the different parts of Parliament. The House of Representatives and the Senate. We were shown how members of Parliament (MPs) in the House of Representatives represent the people in their local areas, while Senators represent the states and territories.
It was also interesting to hear about how laws are made. I had no idea that a proposed law has to pass through both houses before it can become official!
