Reader’s Theatre

This highlight of our week is where students work together to present a reading of a script. The unit aimed to improve reading fluency and enhance students’ engagement with reading. 

The students read The Three Little Pigs. They worked in a group of five, one narrator, a wolf, the first little pig, the second little pig and the third little pig. Students had so much fun being in characters when practicing their scripts. They also made props to go along with their performance. 

Some students got very creative, where they cut the windows and doors of the houses open, so that they could show the characters entering into the houses. Some drew a pot of water and fire behind the chimney of the house for when the wolf drops through. 

At the end of the week, students used the iPads to record themselves reading the script.
