Wellbeing Event

Alliana and Ella hosted the night

Wellbeing Celebration

We were so pleased to see so many of you attend our Wellbeing event.

We have had a fantastic year with so many things to be grateful for, from receiving the Stephanie Alexander Kick Start Grant in April, having Possum Plate support us with fresh sandwiches for breakfast club, free fruit from Woolworths, Vouchers from Monash Health and Sun Smart Australia for achieving Health goals within the school.

We wanted to host a night to share how we help our students understand and recognise what health and wellbeing is.  We cover not just healthy eating but also healthy relationships, how to support yourself and your friends during difficult times.  We also offer students lunch time clubs to help encourage the students to find activities that bring them joy.

We have big plans for next year for our Kitchen Garden Program.  We hope to garden and cook with you and the children and make great memories.

"It was an utter delight to join your wonderful school community and celebrate the incredible wellbeing offerings available to your students. From the very fun Conga line, to the stress balls to the tour of the Kitchen Garden and your presentation, I was so impressed and grateful to be included in your night. "

Wellbeing Afternoon

On Tuesday the 12th of November our school had a Wellbeing and Mental Health afternoon. The hosts were Alliana in Grade 6 and Ella P in Grade 5.

When the families first arrived there was food on tables for the families. Mrs Drury was at a table with raffle tickets, making sure everyone attended before the families sat down in the library.

After we talked about Wellbeing and Mental Health, we went over to the ⅚ classroom to watch the dance club dance to 2 songs called Rip Up The Recipe by Constance Wu and Shawn Mendes and Better When I’m Dancing by Meghan Trainor.

After the dance club performed we went back to the library and we talked about Wellbeing and Mental Health. We then went to the library for the scenarios, where the teachers got to act instead of the students. There were 3 scenarios about how bullying can affect your mental health and what you should do. There were 4 options that we could choose. One of the scenarios were: Your friend is getting talked about and a rumour gets spread around the school.

What could you do to help your friend?

  1. Tell your friend not to worry about it.
  2. Tell them “It’s okay you'll live.”
  3. Tell your family
  4. Call the kids helpline or speak with a trusted adult.

After the scenarios were done Lisa came up and talked about mental health and wellbeing. Then we made stress balls with play dough and balloons. We had to put play dough in a balloon and put another balloon over the balloon. It caused more stress making them but they were really fun to make. It was worth all the stress. Overall it was really fun to squish.

Then after the stress balls, Glenis came to talk about the vegetable garden and how we have planted and harvested many different vegetables. Then we did a raffle that Mrs Drury was preparing for at the start of the evening. There were 3 overall winners, who got baskets with lots of prizes and toys in them.

Then everyone got to take some food then go home.
