Principal's News
I write to you this week, in Paul's absence, we hope he is enjoying a well deserved holiday and look forward to his return on the 25th November.
This fortnight, we have had many wonderful things happening in our school that are worth acknowledging.
We had eleven children celebrate their First Communion on Sunday. It was a beautiful Mass celebrated by Father Joby. The children looked absolutely gorgeous in their special attire and did such a great job with the Mass readings and offertory. We hope that they always remember this day and the joy of being close to Jesus. We are so proud of you all , and pray that God blesses you always.
Last Thursday, Glenis and Connie attended the Monash Health Promotion Awards, where Holy Family had been nominated. Thanks to our initiatives; Breakfast Club, Cooking Club and Kitchen Garden Program, we won the Schools Award which recognises the positive things we are doing to promote the health and wellbeing of our community.
This award is a wonderful acknowledgement for the work that we are doing in this space and we thank our team, particularly Glenis and the students who cook for and run Breakfast Club each day.
A big thank you to all of the parents who attended our Parent Wellbeing Session on Tuesday afternoon. We had an amazing turn out of families, which shows how dedicated you all are to improving the outcomes for your children, particularly around their health and wellbeing. A big thank you to the team; Connie, Glenis and Lisa, our school Psychologist as well as all of the teachers for supporting this. We hope you had fun making the stress balls and getting out of you comfort zone to dance with the children.
We have a rugby coach coming in the next few weeks to run a specialised program with all students to help them develop their ball skills as well as ability to work as a team. To accommodate this program, we will be moving PE lessons to a Tuesday. Please make sure your child wears their sport uniform on a Tuesday instead of Friday, starting next week for the next 3 weeks.
There is a swimming skills survey that parents are asked to complete by 25th November which will provide Splash's with information about your child's swimming ability before their swimming program starts on Tuesday 3rd December. You can find the link to the survey on the Swimming Program page of this newsletter.
Please also note the important information in this newsletter about whooping cough. There has been an increased number of cases in Victoria recently, so please carefully monitor any children who are unwell, particularly those with cold like symptoms and a cough.
Have a wonderful week!
