Music

In music this term we will be working on our rhythm. We begun by learning about the beat, practicing to find the beat, and then working to keep the beat. I encouraged our students to remember that we are all from different backgrounds with different experiences and their own sense of rhythm, and capacity to find and keep the beat, will be quite different.

Our F/1/2 class enjoyed new welcome songs, that encouraged movement and doing actions on the beat.

The F/1/2s also begun to learn some rhythm notation. We practiced drawing and labelling crotchets and minims.

Our other classes had a laugh playing a game where they needed to march on the beat while blind folded. They were to stay in the box drawn on the floor: it wasn't as easy as you might think.

We also had a go at being rappers! This was also harder than you might expect. We were reading Dr Seuss books while a partner kept the beat for us.
