Digital Technology
Cyber Safety
Term 1 has started well, with classes exploring ‘Digital Citizenship’. Everyone has taken part in their Term 1 ‘Inform & Empower’ webinar which centred around thinking before posting, how to disconnect from online engagement that makes us feel uncomfortable, and how to thrive online. In classrooms, students and families have taken part in the ‘Galilee Family Technology Agreement’ and explored individuals rights’ and responsibilities when using technology. Thank you students, teachers and parents for your support!
Digital Technology Lessons:
Our Prep students have been using digital ‘glyphs’ to represent data on iPads.
Our Year 1 students have been exploring how to type and add images on Google Slides, with the support of their Year 5 buddies.
In Years 5 & 6, students are using digital tools such as ‘Tinkercad’ to design 3D prototypes to build a new cities and sustainable world’s on Minecraft E ducation.
We can’t wait to see what other exciting digital solutions our students create! Keep up the fantastic work everyone :)
Harmony Week
This week, our school community came together to celebrate Harmony Week, embracing the theme "Everyone Belongs." Harmony Week is an important time to acknowledge and appreciate Australia’s cultural diversity, promote inclusivity, and reflect on the values of respect, kindness, and understanding.
Throughout the week, students participated in a variety of engaging activities designed to celebrate different cultures, foster meaningful discussions, and build a stronger sense of belonging within our school. It has been a great week with St Patrick’s day on Monday to explore a range of different cultures that create our school identity.
On Friday the 21st of March students and staff are encouraged to wear any traditional clothing from their family’s heritage or the colour orange, which represents harmony and unity. We are looking to see our community’s cultural identity displayed at the Parade on the day.
In classrooms, students explored stories, and traditions from a range of different cultures. These discussions encouraged students to reflect on the importance of diversity and how we can all contribute to a more inclusive community. Students have also been able to express their appreciation for cultural diversity by creating artwork, posters, which reflect their own identity. It has been great to have these proudly displayed around the school acting as a visual reminder of diversity in our school community.
In classrooms across the school students engaged in cultural quizzes, language challenges, and traditional games from different countries, helping them develop a greater appreciation for global traditions.
Harmony Week was a meaningful and enriching experience for everyone involved. It reminded us of the importance of inclusivity and respect, and how each of us plays a role in creating a welcoming and supportive community.
A huge thank you to our students, families, and staff for making this week so special! Your participation and enthusiasm truly demonstrated that everyone belongs at Galilee.
St Patrick’s Day
Lá Fhéile Pádraig a bhí ann. Bhí na páistí ag labhairt Gaeilge, ag damhsa, ag imirt peile Gaelaí, agus ag foghlaim faoi gach rud Éireannach. Buíochas mór leis na múinteoirí agus leis na páistí as páirt a ghlacadh i ngach rud.
Happy St Patrick’s Day to all our Galilee students and families! We had a very special day learning about all things Ireland: céilí dancing, Gaelic football, the history of St Patrick and the students even learned some Irish phrases to use at home! Thank you to our teachers for creating memorable experiences for our students and thank you to our students for taking part and immersing themselves in all things green and St Patrick! ☘️
