Year 12 Post-School Pathways Presentation

On Tuesday, 8th April, the Transitions Team will host an important presentation for Year 12 students. During this session, we will cover a range of topics to support students as they navigate their post-school pathways. Key areas of focus will include the UAC process, early entries, the Schools Recommendation Scheme and the Educational Access Scheme. Additionally students will have the opportunity to participate in the Stage 6 Careers survey, which helps to tailor guidance and resources to their individual needs.

To help students develop a strong understanding of what learning is and how it happens, all teachers will be working with students using the Worthwhile Lesson cycle. This approach helps create strong learning experiences for students. It generally involves the teacher modelling and explaining new concepts, followed by guided practice where students learn with support. Students then complete a performance of understanding to show what they've learned. Throughout this, quick assessments help check progress, and students receive fast feedback to guide their improvement. A 'golden second chance' provides an opportunity to learn from feedback.

These steps take place in a setting where students feel safe, cared for, and valued. Lessons are designed to be worthwhile, with clear learning targets and success criteria. To encourage students to think about their learning, they will be asked:

What are you learning?

How are you doing?

How do you know?

How can you improve?

Where do you go for help?

This approach aims to build a consistent and supportive environment focused on student understanding and progress.

NAPLAN

We are pleased to share that students from Year 7 and 9 have successfully completed their NAPLAN testing. They approached the assessments with engagement and adaptability, and we commend them for their efforts. Individual student reports will be available later in the year, providing insights into their progress. The school will send the reports out as they become available. Thank you for your support throughout the testing period.

Minimum Standards

Minimum Standards testing for Year 10 students assesses essential literacy and numeracy skills required for the HSC. These tests ensure students complete the necessary benchmarks for reading, writing, and numeracy to support their future learning and career pathways. Our school will complete the assessments during Term 2, and we will support students throughout the process. We are also currently completing catch-up tests for Year 11 students who still need to complete the minimum standards. If you have any questions, please contact the school for further information.

NESA Rules- Stage 6

If a student is absent on the day of an assessment, they must notify the school as soon as possible and provide a doctor's certificate or other supporting evidence. Upon their return, they are required to complete a misadventure form to apply for special consideration. This process ensures fairness and allows the school to support students in completing their assessments. Further information can be found on the school's curriculum website which can be accessed through the schools app page and COMPASS.
