Year 7 Peer

Support

Program

Starting high school can feel like stepping into a whole new world—but here at BSC, you’re not alone! Our Peer Support Program is about fun, friendship, and guidance, with Year 10 leaders helping Year 7s feel right at home. The Peer Support program ran over 6 weeks, whereby our trained Year 10 leaders led activities and games to help build connection and confidence. Each session had a wellbeing theme, from building trust to learning communication skills.

Peer support is the week's highlight for Year 7s and Year 10s alike. Next term, the Year 7s will progress to the START program, focusing on resilience building.

From the Peer Supporters-

“This term, we had the opportunity to be part of the peer support program, helping the new year 7s settle into high school. Each week we spent 1 period with our allocated class, and through fun activities and group discussions, we worked together to help them form new friendships and make the transition from primary school to high school a little easier. Some of us were lucky enough to attend Camp Wilkin to help out. It has been rewarding to see them grow throughout this term, and we look forward to continuing to support them throughout their high school journey.”

“Peer support is a rewarding experience that helps year 7 students get accustomed to high school. It also helps students engage and interact with their peers, who they will be together for the rest of their high school journey. As a peer support leader, it helps me improve my leadership skills, and it is lots of fun interacting with students and getting to know them.”
