Student Learning & Growth

Supporting Every Student: Our Commitment to Inclusive Learning

At Marist-Sion College, our vision is for students to “experience an education where they are known and loved, grow as life-long learners, and live as active citizens inspired by the principles of Catholic Social Teaching.”

We believe that knowing our students means recognising and celebrating their differences. By providing diverse learning experiences in the classroom and offering unique programmes tailored to individual needs, we create an environment where every student can flourish. Our Learning Adjustment Team plays a key role in identifying opportunities to enhance student learning, ensuring that every child has access to the support they need.

Increased Flexible Learning Opportunities!

We are excited to announce the launch of three new Individual Support Programmes (ISP). Designed to provide targeted support to students in a way that fosters personal growth across academic, social, behavioural, and emotional domains. This holistic approach prioritises resilience, emotional intelligence, and a growth mindset, all within a structured and nurturing environment in the purpose fitted Flexible Learning Centre ( FLC).

Two groups will have an overall focus on the development of reading and written expression skills and broadening connection within the school, whilst a third will be focused on self-regulation and social skills.

By working in partnership with students, families, and educators, we aim to improve classroom outcomes, equip students with valuable coping strategies, and foster a true sense of belonging. Tailored adjustments ensure that every learner has equal access to success.

The pilot programme will launch at Year 8 level before the end of Term 1, available by invitation, with plans for further offerings in Term 3 and Term 4.

Learning Enrichment and Advancement Programme (LEAP)

For students seeking opportunities beyond the standard curriculum, our LEAP Programme provides a platform to explore personal passions and academic challenges. Participants are selected based on academic performance, learning attitude, and intellectual curiosity.

Some LEAP students have recently showcased their talents in the ‘Debaters Association of Victoria’ (DAV) competitions, achieving outstanding success. This programme nurtures students' abilities and prepares them for higher-level thinking, problem-solving, and leadership opportunities.

Resilience & Engagement through Applied Learning (REAL)

Navigating adolescence comes with its challenges, and the REAL Programme is designed to equip students with the essential life skills needed for both academic and personal success. The programme focuses on:

  • Building resilience through engaging activities and workshops
  • Encouraging student engagement to foster a sense of belonging
  • Providing tailored learning support to help students achieve their educational goals

By developing these skills, students emerge as confident, capable individuals, ready to take on challenges with strength and self-awareness.

Our Commitment to Every Student’s Success

At Marist-Sion College, we are dedicated to creating an inclusive and supportive learning environment. Through our range of enrichment and support programmes, we ensure that every student, regardless of their learning needs, has the opportunity to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

We look forward to seeing the impact of these programmes as we continue to build a stronger, more connected learning community for all.
