Classroom learning

STEM

We have had a fun and engaging term of STEM, filled with guided hands on observations and experiments, where we have focused on fair testing and using the scientific method to:

  • Ask a question
  • State our hypothesis
  • Identify the variables
  • Test our hypothesis
  • Collect our date
  • Interpret our results, and
  • State our conclusion

Year 3/4 have been exploring the properties of natural and processed materials, considering how these properties influence their use and suitability for a variety of purposes. They have also conducted observations on the difference between organic and manufactured materials, and how this influences the decomposition process.

Year 5/6 have been investigating the properties of solids, liquids and gases. They have observed that liquids can have different densities and that the behaviour of gas can change under different conditions, such as heating/cooling.
