Principal's Report

We, at Miners Rest Primary School, would like to acknowledge the Wadawurrung people of the Kulin Nation.

We pay our respects and thank the Wadawurrung people.

May we share your land. We promise to look after it, as well as the animals and people too.

Student Led Conferences

Thank you to all of our families that attended, supported and engaged in our Student Led Conferences over the past two evenings. Both the staff and children invested heavily to ensure a sense of independence and agency for our learners and an opportunity to enhance and invest in our learning partnership between home and school.

Please remember, if you have any need to speak to your child's classroom teacher further about a matter that would be most appropriate to discuss without your child present, our teachers are more than happy to make a mutually agreeable time to support this.

Voluntary Financial Contributions

Thank you to our families who have supported their children's learning by paying their 2025 Voluntary Financial Contribution. Your contribution plays a vital role in ensuring we can continue to provide exceptional educational experiences in both classroom and specialist areas.

Reading Eggs has been a program used in literacy sessions for many years at our school, with the school paying the subscription for students to access this program. Miners Rest Primary School is no longer providing this program for students, due to the explicit, structured approach we are now implementing during literacy learning.

It has been noted that Reading Eggs is listed in the 2025 Voluntary Financial Contribution Schedule. Please be assured that the online subscriptions that directly impact student learning, including SeeSaw, Wushka and Essential Assessment are the only subscriptions linked to the contribution from families and these subscriptions equate to the amount stated in the schedule. We apologise for any misunderstanding.

If you would like further information on any of the items listed in the 2025 Schedule, or would like to discuss the contributions further, please do not hesitate to contact the Administration Office for support.

Assemblies

We have an assembly this week and we look forward to welcoming our school community, celebrating the success of our learners, hearing from our Junior School Council and more. Assembly will start at 2:30 pm - come along and join us!

Athletics Day

We are practising skills, learning chants and meeting to discuss the arrangements and expectations for Athletics Day at Llanberris Recreation Reserve next Thursday, April 3. The children are very excited, the weather is going to be amazing and we are looking forward to welcoming all of our families and friends to cheer on our athletes, and enjoy a sense of community throughout the day. There has been, and will continue to be leading up to the day, important information provided for both families and students about Athletics Day. Please ensure that you have read and understood arrangements for the day. We thank you for your support in ensuring this ever-popular event runs smoothly for all involved. A huge thank you to Katherine and Miss Em for their passion in preparing our athletes, their meticulous organisation and for their tireless preparation behind the scenes.

I am really looking forward to seeing our school community take the opportunity to join in with us during our upcoming events.

With kind regards,

Kylie Nissen.
