Performing Arts

It’s been a vibrant and creative fortnight in Performing Arts! Across all year levels, students have continued to build their confidence and skills in music, movement, and performance. In the classroom, students have been exploring a range of exciting concepts.

Prep students have been developing their understanding of rhythm through voice, movement, and playful repetition of patterns.

Years 1 and 2 have been learning about tuned and untuned instruments, experimenting with creating sounds by hitting, shaking, and scraping.

Years 3 and 4 have been exploring how pitch and rhythm combine to create melody, discovering that many songs can even contain more than one melody working together.

Years 5 and 6 have been introduced to the concepts of major and minor chord shapes and how these affect the mood and feel of music. They’ve also explored tones and semitones, learning how small changes can create completely different sounds.

Our choir has been working hard to learn a beautiful piece titled "Green and Gold", which celebrates Australian pride and unity. A big thank you to all our dedicated choir students who give up their Monday recess time to develop their vocal technique and learn new songs.

It’s been a fun and engaging two weeks of musical discovery. I wish all families a happy and safe holiday period!

Cross Country

What an amazing day we had at Lillydale Lake for our whole school Cross Country!

It was so great to see the exceptional attitudes and positivity of all students there. There were many comments regarding the manners, politeness, and good sportsmanship of you all. You represented our school phenomenally and you should be very proud of yourselves - we are very proud too!

A big thank you to all the volunteers that gave up their time to help with this event, and the teachers for all your extra effort too. The day couldn’t have gone ahead without you, and you are very much appreciated.

A big congratulations to our medal winners! Further information regarding District Cross Country, and the students who will be attending, will be discussed next term.

Also, well done to all the students who participated and earned points for their houses, especially the Preppies who ran for the very first time! Every point makes a difference, and it certainly did to the final house results, which were very close!
