Student Empowerment

What an incredible start to the year we’ve had in Student Empowerment!
Term 1 has been all about empowering our students to understand and embrace their emotions, strengthen their problem-solving skills, and recognise their own personal and cultural strengths. We’re thrilled to report that the students have absolutely loved these lessons, engaging enthusiastically in everything from self-reflection to teamwork!
Across the school, we’ve explored a variety of important topics. Our students have been developing their emotional awareness, learning how to identify and manage different feelings in healthy, positive ways. They’ve also been working hard to build strong problem-solving skills, equipping themselves with strategies to tackle challenges both in and out of the classroom. Some students have been exploring what makes them unique, celebrating their own strengths while learning from the diverse perspectives of their peers.
A special highlight of the term was when our Student Leaders had the opportunity to meet with local member Sonya Kilkenny. They worked on their public speaking skills and discussed the qualities that make a great leader. The session was full of inspiration and valuable insights, giving our student leaders new confidence as they step into their roles and represent their fellow students.
As we look ahead to Term 2, we’re excited to continue the journey of Student Empowerment. Our next focus will be on help-seeking and positive coping strategies—important skills that will support our students’ mental health and well-being as they face challenges throughout the year.
We’re incredibly proud of how engaged and excited our students have been this term, and we can’t wait to see them continue to grow and thrive. Here’s to another fantastic term ahead!
