Benefits of Social Sport

Everybody knows that year 12 is a year full of stress and challenges, but we also know that its something we all go through together. As an escape from the study grind, a group of us year 12s have created a social netball team…

THE GREEN BUNNIES!!

We play once a week at the Northcote courts which encourages a sense of community and team spirit within the cohort by getting as many people involved via our social media. We have built such strong friendships and even came home with a win! But the smiles are so much more than the score. For 40 minutes a week we are given the opportunity to be free and relieve some pressure that comes with sacs and studying and is something we look forward to everyday! We have created a friend group through our shared accomplishments as a team and it’s opened new doors for our social life to ensure we have a good study-life balance through this stressful time. We love getting as many people involved as possible, so join in by following our team journey on @greenbunniesofficial on Instagram.

We recommend looking into ‘Social Sport’ for following year groups and anyone looking for a potential break, a way to get active and an outlet to learn a new sport and make friends.

Celebrating Student Accomplishments

We love to regularly profile the amazing things our students accomplish outside of school, from achievements and competitions they win, to just the general celebrations of the good work they do in the wider community.   If you wish to (humbly) brag about your student’s amazing outside of school talents, please fill out this brief survey, or reach out to me via email: https://forms.office.com/r/nNG6bn0SLj

Whilst we don’t have to publish them here, we love hearing about and celebrating the amazing things our students do outside of school.

This week’s profile is Angus Kitt.

Angus is a singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist. He graduated from the CMAA (Country Music Association of Australia) Junior Academy in 2023 and has shared the stage with The Bushwackers, who invited him to perform his original song, 'Last Drink'. Angus’ musical style is country-folk-rock, and he plays guitar, mandolin and harmonica. His repertoire includes a mix of original and cover songs; particularly songs that reflect his passion for Australian history and storytelling. Angus lived in outback South Australia for a year, and this experience enriched his musicality and empathy with country folk. At school, Angus is completing advanced studies in VCE music.   Recently Angus and his band won Best Band in the Busking Championships over the holidays. The event was held in Kilmore and the band won a not-to-shabby prize of $500. Congrats to Angus, the rest of the band, and the support crew. He says he is ‘all over Instagram’, and you can hear his music on YouTube here; https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCvkE2nbhoKueEQfQZFVPRZQ
