Inquiry Centre

Highlight

What a fantastic week we’ve had in 1/2!

Last Friday was our Guided Inquiry Excursion to Brentford Square! The students visited Chemist Warehouse, Woolworths, the playground, Bakers Delight, the Post Office, the Optometrist, the cafe and enjoyed a nature walk scavenger hunt to find things in our community such as a mailbox, pizza shop, vet, birds and even someone walking their dog!

They learnt about community, what we need in our town and the importance of access to medicine in times of sickness, what time bakers get up to make us fresh bread, and what optometrists do to help us with our vision.

Friday was also Harmony Day, where students enjoyed talking about their culture, where their family come from and celebrating diversity through our whole school parade waving flags they have created to represent them.

In maths, we’ve been exploring the concept of time! The students have been working hard to master reading both analogue and digital clocks, and we’ve been practicing telling the time to the nearest hour, half hour, quarter past, and quarter to. It's been wonderful to see their confidence grow as they tackle new challenges with enthusiasm!

In writing, we've really let our imaginations run wild! Our young authors have been diving into the world of creative storytelling by writing their own narratives. We’ve explored the structure narratives use and broke it down into three key parts: the beginning, the problem, and the solution. It’s been amazing to see their creativity come to life through their words!

Enjoy your weekend!

Reminders

  • Whilst Pokemon cards are a lot of fun, we are asking that these cards only be bought to school on a Friday when Pokémon club is on.
  • We are asking for students to leave small toys at home as some of the toys that have recently been brought to school are going missing which of course brings great disappointment.
  • Hats are compulsory so please make sure your child has a hat at school.
  • Students are growing and at times very hungry! They are encouraged to bring some fruit/vegetables to have during a fruit break mid-morning.
