Principal's Message

Term 1 Week 9

End of Term Celebrations

As we approach the end of the term, we’re looking forward to our upcoming Family Breakfast and Easter Hat Parade on the Friday 4th April! This is a wonderful opportunity for our school community to come together and celebrate the end of another successful term.

Easter Raffle

Our Easter raffle will be drawn next week at Family breakfast. Raffle tickets are available at reception.  We are also still looking for donations of items for the raffle.  We are looking for any Easter themed items such as Easter chocolates (boxed or bags), empty baskets, books, toys and crafts.  All donations are greatly appreciated and can be left at reception before Tuesday.

Family Breakfast

Family breakfast will be from 7:30- 9:00am.  If you can help us out with food prep the night before or serving on the day, please sign up at  https://volunteersignup.org/ADLA8

We particularly need helpers on the Thursday after school to get through all the food prep, even if you can only stay for 30 minutes.

Annual Easter Hat Parade

Nick McGowan will be joining us to present the Aussie of the Month Award at the parade.

The categories this year, as decided by the SRC are:

Most Colourful

Most Sustainable

Most Detailed

Most Creative

If you're unable to create a hat at home, students will have a brief period during class to make a simple paper hat or headband.

We warmly encourage all families to join us, enjoy the morning together, and cheer on the students as they proudly display their incredible creations!

Grade 4 Gala Day

It was wonderful to pop down to the Grade 4 Gala Day on Tuesday and see the students in action playing Cricket, Frisbee and Volleyball. The students demonstrated great teamwork and skill in each sport. It was a fun-filled day full of friendly competition and sportsmanship, with everyone enjoying the games to the fullest!

Hawthorn Football Club Visit

The Grade 3, 5 and 6 students had a fabulous experience during a Q&A session with the Hawthorn Football Club on Tuesday. The event was a great opportunity for students to learn from their idols and be inspired by their journeys, motivating them to pursue their own passions, whether in sports or other areas of life. It also highlighted the importance of discipline, goal-setting, and resilience-qualities that are essential for success in any field.

School Council

We welcomed our new School Councillors for 2025 to their first full meeting.  Participation in these meetings is invaluable, and we are grateful for your ongoing support.

It  was a pleasure to welcome new members to our team—Kirsty Ojeda, Martin Tofts  (new parent members,) and Jonathan Hobbs (a new staff member).

We elected our office bearers for the year, and I am thrilled to announce the following positions:

President - Jennifer Teoh

Vice President - George Ma

Secretary - Megha Mallhotra

Treasurer/Finance - Jonathon Dimbleby

Education  Emily Glen

Facilities & Community - Jonny Hobbs

During this meeting, we spent time discussing our 2025 Annual Implementation Plan, which outlines our goals for the coming year.

We are excited to work together to shape the future of Mount Pleasant Road Primary School and Kindergarten.

Exciting Updates on Our New Portables and Facilities

We are getting closer to completing the work on the portables, with the classrooms expected to be ready for use very early next term. These new spaces will include classrooms for our 1/2 students, as well as dedicated rooms for the Library and Indonesian program.

We will be relocating two of the 5/6 classes to the portables on the oval. This final move will mark the completion of the building work, with just the basketball courts remaining to be finished around the middle of Term 2.

I would like to commend the students for their resilience and patience throughout the construction process. We know that all the hard work will be worth it in the end, and we are excited for everyone to enjoy the new, improved facilities.

Some fantastic new additions to our courtyard, all made possible by the generous support of our families and hard work from the Parents and Friends. Thanks to the funds raised, we now have a brand-new activity track and multiple four-square courts for our students to enjoy!

These additions will offer even more opportunities for our students to stay active, engage with their peers, and have fun during break times. We are grateful for the ongoing support of our community and look forward to seeing the positive impact these new play options will have on our students' daily routines.

Thank you to our community and Parents and Friends for working so hard to make these extras possible!

Transition for 2026 Foundation Students

Welcome Meg

This week, we are excited to welcome Megha Malhotra as our new Business Manager at MPRPS. With her expertise and experience, we look forward to the fresh perspective and contributions she will bring to our team.

A reminder that we have no assembly on Monday and school finishes at 2.30 pm on Friday.

Enjoy what looks like to be a sunny weekend!
