Book Week 2024

One of the most heartwarming aspects of Book Week was the sense of community it fostered. Books have a unique way of bringing people together, and this celebration was no exception. The level of participation was impressive, with students and teachers alike embracing the opportunity to celebrate their favorite books.

I loved seeing the joy on the faces of the students as they discussed their costumes and took part in creative artistic responses to the theme of

'Reading is Magic'.

Magic wands, quilting squares for our own invisibility cloak, magic carpet weaving and many more projects were happening and which will be on show at our Art show later this term. There was an infectious energy that resonated with the whole community, demonstrating that the theme is right on the mark!  Creative activities and costumes transformed the school into a wonderland of stories.

As you can tell from the photos, 'Tim the Incredible' certainly had us all guessing. It was a fantastic way to finish off the celebrations.

As for our whole school voting on the best picture story book, the resounding winner was, 'Every Night At Midnight' by Peter Cheong

Thank you for your continued support,

Premier's Reading Challenge

How are you travelling with your 'Premier's Reading Challenge?'

Remember we're endeavouring to instill the motto,

"The more you read, the more you will know"

The challenge ends on September 8th, so keep up with the reading everyone!

Creating Digital Solutions for our Learning

The students have been focusing on interactive ways to share their learning. Some are creating interactive slide decks and thinking about the user experience when creating their digital designs. We've been using the 'Thinglink' website to share what we have learnt about various Australian authors. Whilst others are exploring how they can share their learning using the 'Storyjumper' website. This week, during library, we were visited by Simon Collier, an educational consultant from ACARA (Australian Curriculum, Assessment and Reporting Authority). We will be working alongside Simon to create rich, authentic assessment tasks that will be posted on the ACARA website to assist other educators. Simon was very impressed with the high level of engagement that the students demonstrated and is looking forward to positive outcomes from this process.
