Sacraments

Last weekend we had several students undertake the sacraments of Confirmation and Eucharist. They had thoroughly prepared for receiving the sacraments at home with their families and at school, where they celebrated a bread baking day with their teachers. We congratulate all the children involved and thank their families for their ongoing support of the Catholic Tradition.

Prayer Gathering

Tomorrow Emma's Grade Two students will lead us in a Father's Day prayer gathering. All special male role models are invited to attend. Next week our Grade One students will lead us in prayer.

Religious Education Leaders Conference

Last week I had the privilege of attending a two day conference in Halls Gap where Bishop Paul Bird discussed the beginning of the Catholic Church and how we can best engage our young people in liturgy. We also had workshops with staff from the Catholic Identity Team to look at co-creating prayer rituals and using music and imagery to enhance prayer experience. One thing I took away from this conference is how well we already do these things at St. Mary's with our weekly Prayer Gatherings. Our students are truly engaged in the prayer process and enter the church space with genuine reverence for the sacred space.
