In Semester 2, our Years 9 and 10 students have embarked on an exciting exploration of Cafe Culture. The term began with a focus on crafting popular breakfast items typically found at cafes, such as Pancake Stacks and French Toast. As the semester progresses, students have broadened their culinary repertoire to include a range of cafe-style lunch items, including Sushi Cups. They have also designed and created their own Chicken Schnitzel Turkish Bread, served with a selection of custom-prepared potatoes. Alongside these culinary activities, students are refining their barista skills, adding a touch of professionalism to their cafe experience.
This semester, we are thrilled to welcome a new group of students to the Food Technology elective. The term commenced with a strong emphasis on safety and hygiene, as well as fostering collaborative work skills. Students have already put their knife skills to the test with dishes such as Minestrone Soup and Baked Potatoes. Recently, they have been focusing on refining their measuring techniques to ensure precision in their cooking. This hands-on approach is helping them build a solid foundation in culinary skills while enhancing their confidence in the kitchen.
We were delighted to welcome 18 kinder students to Edenhope College's Food Technology program last week as part of our Transition program. The young students had a fantastic time creating their own Pizza Faces. This engaging activity not only introduced them to the joys of cooking but also allowed them to express their creativity. The experience was a hit with the kinder students, who left with smiles on their faces and a newfound excitement for cooking.
