Careers & Pathways

It's been a busy term in the Career Hub for Bemin. The Careers Hub has really transformed after moving into the General Learning Neighbourhood.  Not only is it closer for students to access, but the larger space is able to hold all the important career resources for young people in senior school.  University and TAFE guides, VET information and much more to assist our students to become capable young adults navigating the world of work and study. Please do drop by for a chat.

A number of students were lucky enough to accompany me on the RMIT excursion to the city. Students were delighted to travel via public transport to RMIT, see the facilities and hear

what RMIT can offer future Bemin students. Read on to hear from Veronica Grace Mafi and her experience of the day:

On the 24th August a group of 20 students went to RMIT. When we arrived we met with 2 students that attended the university. We were informed about the different locations. They have 3 campuses and 2 sites in Australia and 2 in Vietnam, we were taught about life at RMIT including, the lectures, good schedules and living on campus. We then had a scavenger hunt around the campus that was put together by RMIT students.

After we crossed over to the State Library, where we split up into groups to explore the library. We then moved on to Melbourne Central for lunch before we had to head back to the station.

All students seemed to have really enjoyed the day.

Work Placement

Hi My name is Khalid, HeadStart has given me the opportunity to do a work placement with Papbuild Constructions. Papbuild is a Carpentry company with a great boss and a really good team.

I learnt how to put up frames and how to shoot them in using a nail gun. I learnt values such as communication, respect when communicating with other staff and employers and responsibility, all of which is extremely important on a construction site due to the safety precautions that need to be taken into consideration.

The days are long, work is hard, but well worth it.

I still have 4 more days over 4 weeks, to go with my placement and I hope to learn a lot more.

I feel like a found a career path that is perfect for me.
