Principal's Desk

Dear Parents,

It was a sea of red, white and green last Friday as we celebrated Italian Day. Many people commented that it was the ‘best Italian Day ever’!

There were Luigi’s, Mario’s, Roman Emperors, Roman gladiators, human pizzas & gelatos, just to name a few! It was great to have so many parents in attendance for the morning parade as the students (and teachers!) performed Italian dances to the delight of the audience. It was the perfect day to start our celebration of Italian Day.

A special thanks also to Aliyah in Prep B for inviting Nonno (Roberto) to bring his Italian award winning Fiat car to school. The children were very impressed with this amazing little car which even changed colours!

Following the parade some Year 5/6 students showcased their Italian Poetry skills, participated in Italian games and we concluded the day with a bilingual show `L’ingrediente Segreto’.

A huge thanks to Signora Formichelli for her organisation of the day - it was lots of fun for all!

Art Show - three weeks to go!

There is a sense of anticipation and excitement from both our staff and students with our Art Show just three weeks away. The student masterpieces are almost complete! The display boards will arrive next week in readiness to transform our Great Space and the St Mary’s Multi Purpose Room into an Art Gallery. There will be 3 viewing sessions as follows:

Tuesday 10th September

Session 1 - 5.30pm - 6.15pm

Session 2 - 6.15pm - 7.00pm

Session 3 - 7.00pm - 7.45pm

Each session will begin promptly with an 'Opening Address' by our Art Leaders in the Library followed by a performance. Mrs Josie Formichelli has been working with a group of Year 3/4 students in preparation for the performance.

Dad’s Afternoon - Thursday 29th August

We are inviting Dads / Father figures to join their children for an afternoon of fun and activities from 2.30pm - 3.30pm. The school gates will open at 2.15pm and we ask `Dads’ to go directly to the classroom of your youngest child. Looking forward to an opportunity for Dads to interact with their children for an afternoon of fun!

Long Service Leave (1 week)

I will be taking a week’s Long Service Leave from the 26th - 30th August, with Natalie Ballinger Acting Principal during my short absence.

Planning for 2025

Towards the end of term we will begin some interim planning for the 2025 school year. This includes finalising our Prep 2025 enrolments and conducting staff annual review meetings. To assist with our planning, please let us know as soon as possible if you will not be returning to HT in 2025. This will greatly assist our formulation of class groupings and allocation of staff early next term.

End of Year Dates

We have received a few enquiries in regards to the finishing date for the end of the school year. As noted on our public calendar, I can confirm the following:

  • Year 6 Graduation Mass and Ceremony: Wednesday 11th December 6pm at St Jude's Church
  • Last day for Year 6 students: Friday 13th December 3.30pm
  • Last day for Prep-Year 5 students: Tuesday 17th December 1pm

Further details, including Year 6 activities and fun day, to follow soon.

School Blog - check it out!

I would like to continue to encourage parents to access our school blog to see what’s happening around our school, particularly specialist classes and extracurricular activities. Our students contribute to the posts on a regular basis - I strongly encourage you to `like’ a post of leave a comment. The students get a real buzz to know that parents are appreciating their posts!
