The 2024 Arts Festival took to the outdoors this year, with a state of the art All Terrain outdoor stage. The Arts Festival opening was celebrated with centre stage performances, including singing, piano, guitar and band. The talented Westall students rose to fame!
Extended queues waited eagerly to receive their free sausage, from the Barbeque area, where the sausage sizzle took place. The vocational major students cooked away 200 beef and halal sausages, fried 2kg of onions, and prepared 1000 slices of bread, to feed the hungry students.
‘Stilt Walkers Australia Duo ‘Water drops and Bubbles’ were a real crowd pleaser, with their tricks and techniques of creating bubble artforms that flowed over the crowds of students. Students stood in groups so that they could catch, pop, swipe and even immerse themselves in the soapy suds of the bubbles.
'TOY STORY’ Westall Café stole the show with a FREE lunch at the breakfast Club to celebrate creative arts and cooking. The most amazing thing happened, the food ran out in no time. Breakfast Club was closed by the time I arrived. The students waited in an orderly manner, and were extremely patient, until they received their free lunch. Moore Educational Australia, GREEN CITY LEGO CHALLENGE, was the biggest hit of all! Every year level participated in the building process with the green city LEGO blocks. Three days in we had an amazing literal ‘green city’ come to life. The admiration on the students 'faces on what they had accomplished in a group and solo was sensational.
Feel Good Events LED furniture and LIGHT SHOW filled the dance room once again this year with softness of colours, light textures and ambience, even if you were not in the mood, the effects were everlasting. A big thank you to the great crew who designed and decorated the room – Sofia Borsch-Gamonal, Mearlea Seang, Hanna Ali, Jamie Largo and Mica David.
JIMBO’S PHOTO BOOTH filled the Wellbeing Centre during the week. The crowds rushed in to get their photographs taken by Jimbo’s magical Photo booth. Instant photographs bought instant gratification of portraits, props and accessories. The students enjoyed a lunch hour of glamour, glitz and shimmer as they stepped into the lights and stage of the Photo Booth.
The Arts Festival only got better as the week went on with the ever most popular – HENNA run by the one and only professional artist, Shukria Noori. BADGE MAKING, CHINESE CRAFTS and ORIGAMI by Fiona Liu and Cecilia Yuan, CHALK ART, the famous ARTZ BLITZ,COLOUR POWDER fun run ACTIVITY with Year 12 students, and the great ARTS KAHOOT organised Ms Cichy had the students immersed in the celebrations of the week.
