Sustainability News
Welcome to 2025
Dear School Community,
Welcome to another exciting year in Sustainability!
We are thrilled to introduce our new Environmental Leaders Theo, Ashur and Kingston who have already shown incredible enthusiasm and dedication. Their passion for caring for our school’s natural environment is inspiring, and we can’t wait to see the positive impact they will make throughout the year.
Recently, I had the opportunity to lead a Sustainability Session focused on Recycling with the help and encouragement of Miss Roland. We explored ways to reduce waste and improve our recycling habits at school. It was fantastic to see students actively engaged,1/2R had lots to say around recycling at school and at home.
We have started the year by tending to our new eucalyptus trees, ensuring they receive the care they need to thrive in our schoolyard. Our veggie patch has been harvested, with students proudly gathering the produce we nurtured throughout the 2024 season. In addition, we’ve taken the time to visit and care for our native garden, reinforcing the importance of protecting and preserving our local biodiversity.
Our Environmental Leaders recently addressed the school assembly with a progress update on Nude Food Tuesdays, encouraging students to continue making waste-free lunch choices. As a friendly reminder, we kindly ask families to return soft plastics home, as we do not have the facilities at school to process them.
We are looking forward to an incredible year filled with meaningful environmental initiatives, hands-on learning, and family engagement. Thank you for supporting our sustainability efforts—we can’t wait to share more updates with you soon!
Warm regards,
Simone Cheslett
