Nowra Christian School was blessed in 2024 to have two epic events where students showcased their musical skills they have developed through their time at NCS and through the school year.
The year began with the fabulous production of The Little Mermaid musical. The vocal talents of the on-stage students was ably supported by a number of students, staff, peripatetic teachers, and volunteers. The year then ended with our Thanksgiving Service which featured performances by vocalist soloists, worship band, rock band, concert band, and string ensemble.
Many of our performers began developing their musical abilities in primary school at NCS. Classroom singing and playing instruments prepares students for joining the choir and band, which in turn opens the opportunity for students to participate in the Shoalhaven Eisteddfod, primary school musical, and other community and church engagements.
In the high school, students continue to develop their abilities through high school music lessons, music electives at HSC level, and through co-curricular band and social jam sessions. The quality of the musicians at NCS has been on display on showcase evenings, during our musical performances, but also through those that have gone on to tertiary studies in music.
Supporting our students from K-12 are our peripatetic (private music) teachers. Each of these accomplished teachers tutor students that are committed to developing their ability with specialised instrument and vocal training during school hours. These low key teachers are responsible for elevating the development and performance of students, especially at high school level.
Enrolment for the 2025 instrumental learning program (Year 4), primary concert band, and secondary band are now open on the NCS website under current families, then click on co-curricular music. To get in contact with a peripatetic teacher, they can also be found under the current families drop down menu.

Student supervision begins at 8:10 am. Parents are asked not to drop students at school before this time. It is understood that buses arrive earlier than this. For those students who routinely arrive by bus before 8:10, they are expected to sit until supervision begins. It is suggested that they have a book or something else to do during this time.
