On Thursday, 13 February, Year 5 students had the rare opportunity to participate in a rugby league coaching session with a development crew from the St. George Illawarra Dragons. Students had a great time running drills and learning a few tips and tricks from these amazing athletes.
This program was organised by Megan Wedd and Debbie Dimmock from Invictus Australia, and coincided with the 2025 Invictus Games in Vancouver and Whistler.
Year 9-10 PASS students also had the opportunity to learn about the valuable work of Invictus Australia in supporting wounded, ill and injured Defence Force veterans on their road to recovery. Students discussed the benefits of sport in maintaining positive mental and physical health and workshopped ways adaptive sports can be used to create a supportive, inclusive community.
Throughout the week-long Invictus Games, students kept up to date with daily highlights and celebrated the achievements of Team Australia as they competed in a range of adaptive sports including sitting volleyball, indoor rowing, swimming, wheelchair rugby, skiing, snowboarding and the ‘madness’ that is skeleton. For each competitor, the road to the Invictus Games required courage, perseverance and an unconquerable spirit in the face of adversity. It is hoped that their stories will encourage students to keep pushing forward when obstacles arise in their own lives.
It was a pleasure to welcome many of our new parents and carers to the New Families Morning Tea, this event was designed to help new families connect into our school community. The morning provided a wonderful opportunity for families to meet with each other and key staff members.
A heartfelt thank you goes to our parent ambassadors and student ambassadors who helped make our new families feel welcomed with their friendly conversation and warm hospitality.
We look forward to seeing these connections continue to grow throughout the year and encourage our new families to stay engaged in school life.
Welcome to our community!
