Egg-citing Learning at Curiosity ELC

This week, a very special delivery arrived at Curiosity - an egg incubator! Housed carefully in our learning environment, the incubator holds fertilised chicken eggs, sparking excitement and wonder among our young learners.

In the Blue Team, children have created a countdown calendar as they eagerly await the hatching process. This hands-on experience is already supporting early numeracy development, including skills such as counting, sequencing, and pattern recognition. The activity also fosters STEM thinking, as children begin to understand the concepts of time, growth, and scientific observation.

The Orange Team have enthusiastically joined the exploration, deepening their ongoing investigation into birds. As part of their learning, they have been discussing the life cycle of a chicken. When presented with the incubator, children shared a variety of thoughtful ideas about what it might be - demonstrating curiosity, imagination, and logical thinking.

This shared inquiry across teams is a wonderful example of how authentic, hands-on experiences can spark meaningful conversations and extend learning across multiple areas of development.

We look forward to sharing updates as we watch and wait for the next stage in this exciting journey!
