Election Stall Fundraiser 03 May

Taradale PS is a polling booth for the General Election on Saturday 03 May. At each election we hold a successful fundraising stall. At the stall we have a bbq, sell cakes, biscuits, plants, jams, relishes etc. Below is link to the volunteer roster for helpers on the stall. The more helpers the better.

Working Bee 04 May

On the morning of Sunday 4th May we’ll have a working bee at the school focussing on the chook pen and orchard.  Lots of helpers would be great to get everything ready for our school chooks.  If you feel like bringing a plate to share that would be lovely, but no pressure. Kids welcome too.

Bulb Fundraiser

Our bulb fundraiser has finished and made just over $500 for the school.  Thanks to everyone who placed orders, hopefully you have already received your bulbs, ready to plant out soon.

Library update April 2025

In short:

  • School library will be up and functioning again this term.
  • Students will be given the chance to purchase the books that aren’t needed for a gold coin donation, details TBA.
  • Please return any Taradale library books you have at home to school.

Hopefully you have noticed the library space looking neater and smelling cleaner. We have finished the process of sorting through all the texts, categorising them and cleaning them. We now have more space to fill with books Taradale students love to read.

Part of the process has been an extensive cull. We know it seems terrible to get rid of books! However, this is part of any functioning library as we must ensure the books kids are borrowing are ones that are going to keep them reading. A lot of what we culled were looking very old and damaged, some were double ups, and some do not stand the test of time in terms of their themes. We would like to give the better of these books a chance at a second life, so we will have a little fundraiser, for a gold coin students can pick 3 books. Details TBA.

We’re also going to hold a library re-launch to explain to students how we have categorised books and how they can take care of the library. During this time we will encourage students to take part in a library survey about their current reading habits and what they like to read, to help us make a plan for stacking the shelves moving forward.

Now things are a bit more organised, we would like any Taradale library books you have floating around at home to be returned to school, so we can do a proper audit.

We have received several donations for the library over the last month or so, and I would like to thank everyone’s generosity:

  • Aesop’s Attic who donated over 40 books, you rock!
  • Linley Jacka (Jesse Boyce’s grandmother) who donated $500 worth of books, thanks mum!
  • Squishy Minnie for all their help in providing awesome texts and invaluable advice, thanks Rai!
  • Anne Hunter (Jesse Boyce’s Aunt) who donated funds for books, thanks Anne!
  • And thank you to all the volunteers who have been coming in and chipping away at the cleaning, it is very much appreciated!

We hope you are all as excited about this new space as we are!

Change of date for Term 2 garden working bee

We realised that our working bee was scheduled for the same day as the Malmsbury Fayre (Thanks Becky!) so have rescheduled:

Sunday May 4th.  9:30 til 12.

BYO gloves and rake

Shovels, Pitchforks and wheelbarrows also welcome

We'll be concentrating on the chook pen and orchard, getting ready for a flock of school chickens.

If we have time and enough people we will also do some mulching and tidying around the classroom gardens

Working Bees can be a great way for parents to get to know each other and kids are always welcome to come along too.  Many hands make light work so all helpers are appreciated!

Election BBQ on the 3rd May

Taradale PS operates as a local polling booth so generally when there is voting we will have a sausage sizzle and bake sale as a fundraiser on the day.  We'll need volunteers for the day and donations of baked goods.  If anyone has any other creative ideas for fundraising on the stall let us know as it's a great opportunity to raise some $$.  A roster will be shared here and also on the WhatsApp groups at the start of term two so people can sign up.  Thank you!

Weekly :

Breakfast club: Wednesday, Thursday, Friday *Still looking for volunteers to run Monday and Tuesday please!

Garden Club: Friday 8:45 - 9:30
