Around the Classrooms

Grade 5/6M
This week in Literacy, 5/6M has been reading War Horse by Michael Morpurgo. We’ve been learning new vocabulary words such as nuisance, intrigued, hazy, and abundance, which help us better understand the story and improve our writing. We also learned about appositives—extra information added to describe a noun. For example: Joey, a kind boy, cares for his horse. This helps us add more detail and interest to our sentences.
This week in Maths, our class has been learning about different types of fractions, including proper fractions, improper fractions, and mixed numbers. We’ve been practising how to compare and order them from smallest to largest, as well as how to convert between improper fractions and mixed numbers. It’s been a great way to build our understanding of how fractions work!
