Principals Report

And just like that we roll into Week 5 of Term 2! The mornings are cooler, the nights are darker, and Winter is just around the corner.

At Sunday’s Mass, Fr Junjun shared, in my opinion, Jesus’ most important message of all to his disciples (big call I know!). In John’s Gospel (Jn 13:31-35), before ascending to heaven, Jesus instructs his followers to ‘love one another, just as I have loved you.’ When we reflect on the depth of Jesus’ love for us – he gave his life for us – we can better under the magnitude of what it means to love others in this way. Love is not always easy, and there are times when it can seem impossible to love some people. This is the challenge Jesus lays down to us all. This is how we contribute to make the world a better place. Also at mass, roughly half of our Sacramental students were presented to the parish. The rest of the students will be presented this Saturday night at 5pm, please come along to support them if you can.

Last week we enjoyed walking safely to school. Thank you to those families who joined us at either the town hall or the United petrol station on a fresh Friday morn!

This Sunday the parish will celebrate Fr Morely’s 50 years as a priest. Such an outstanding achievement and we wish Fr Mick all the best!!

If we fast forward to next week (beginning 26th May) – Reconciliation Week – things start to get busy at school. Monday is National Sorry Day. Tuesday, we begin 2026 Prep tours (enrolments are open to existing families and will open to new families on 27th May – please spread the word!). On Wednesday we have our Reconciliation Culmination Day with a visit from Aunty Molly, a Smoking Ceremony in Galyna Garden with Jade Miller, Solid Rock performed by the choir, a BBQ lunch and our Yr5/6’s will head across to Sacred Heart College to indulge in their Market Day! On Thursday we have our School Cross Country around Chinaman’s Island. On Friday we have our Sacramental students enjoy their ‘Spirit Day’ whilst our Yr6 Courage team will attend the Mass for Healing and Justice in Benalla. The week then culminates with the Sacraments of Confirmation and Eucharist celebrated on Saturday night (31/5) and Sunday morning (1/6).

And lastly, please reach out if you feel there is anything me or the staff can do improve the education and care of your children at Sacred Heart.

Take care and God bless,

Jarrod
