Principal's Report

Dear HPS Community,
Welcome back to everyone for the start of term 2.
I hope you had a lovely school holiday break, enjoying the beautiful weather we were lucky enough to have!
It's been great to hear lots of stories of families and friends enjoying a happy Easter together, and possibly indulging in a feast of chocolates and hot cross buns also.
We look forward to a great term ahead.
2026 Transitions
Foundation enrolments for 2026 have opened and enrolment forms can be downloaded from the website or collected from the school office.
The school captains and I have starting hosting tours for perspective families. More information and a booking link can also be found on our website.

The statewide process for transition from Year 6 to Year 7 has opened too.
Placement Information Packs were sent home this week and can also be downloaded from the Compass newsfeed sent to Year 6 families. We require completed forms to be returned to classroom teachers no later than Friday 9th May 2025.
Education Week
Education Week is an annual celebration of education in Victoria.
This year’s Education Week will be celebrated from Monday 19 May to Friday 23 May.
This year's theme, ‘Celebration of Cultures’, highlights the diversity of our communities and the importance of every child feeling safe and welcome at school.
Request for approval Process - Family Holiday
Students are expected to attend school unless there is an approved exemption.
Parents are to provide a reasonable explanation for their child’s absence from school and endeavour to schedule family holidays, appointments and other activities outside of school hours. An approved exemption will be given by the Principal if the explanation provided is a reasonable excuse for the purposes of the parent meeting their responsibilities under the Education Training Reform Act 2006 and the School Attendance Guidelines.
If it is considered that the parent has provided a reasonable excuse for their child’s absence, the absence will be marked as ‘Not Present’ and the reason for the absence will be Family Holiday.
Parents/Carers are asked to provide a written request for approval to naomi.ivers@education.vic.gov.au well in advance of the planned holiday (where possible). If you have any questions regarding student absences, please don't hesitate to make contact.
