NEWS AROUND THE SCHOOL

WORLD LAUGHTER DAY
From our SRC Leaders
On Wednesday the 7th of May, all students celebrated World Laughter Day. We saw so many enthusiastic kids in the yard, everyone tried to have a good laugh on this fun-filled day.
All students loved this special day because it was fun and different. We saw kids dressed up in colours such as green, blue, pink, orange and red.
During World Laughter Day we had 3 different activities run by our leaders at lunch time. These activities were mirror faces where you basically play musical statues, but when the music stops you pull out a funny face. The next one was laughter yoga. In this activity the students participated in yoga that involved funny moves and laughter. The last activity was standup comedy where students presented their jokes on stage and some even brought their joke book.😄
Who figured out why laughter is good for your body and health? Dr. Madan Kataria believes laughter doesn’t only feel good, but it actually is good for you. He also invented laughter yoga. He once said: "Your body doesn't know the difference if you're acting happy, or you're really happy."
Why is laughter good for you? It stimulates many of our organs. Laughter enhances your intake of oxygen-rich air, stimulates your heart, lungs and muscles, and increases the endorphins that are released by your brain. This helps to relieve any stress we may be feeling.

DOES YOUR CHILD HAVE A MEDICAL CONDITION THAT REQUIRES MEDICATION AT SCHOOL?
A medical management plan and a supply of medication must be in place for every child enrolled at Moorabbin Primary School, who has a diagnosed health care need, (e.g. anaphylaxis, diabetes, epilepsy, asthma, allergy or relevant medical condition.
The child’s medical practitioner must prepare and sign the plan, and the parent/carer must then provide the plan and medication to the school.
The Department of Education mandates that only updated medication can be administered. We will contact you when both your child’s plan is up for review and has expired, and also, when their medication is about to expire. Prompt return of these documents/medication will assist the school in managing your child’s condition.
Click on the relevant link below if you require a plan for your medical practitioner to complete.
