Election Day BBQ & Cake Stall

It’s been another busy fortnight. A huge thankyou to all our parents, grandparents and staff who baked cakes, biscuits, and slices or made preserves to sell at the Election Day BBQ and Cake Stall. A special thank you to Lincoln and Lily’s mum who made a selection of necklaces and bracelets to sell.    Thank you to all the parents who helped to wrap and sell the cakes, too.

As the cakes and slices were selling, we had the BBQ in full swing, a huge thankyou to the parents who volunteered to cook and serve. It was our most successful Election Day BBQ and Cake stall ever, we raised approximately $4,500 which is a great start for our new fundraising project purchasing new playground equipment. It was a fantastic effort from everyone.  Special thanks to Eric (past parent), Michelle and Julie in the office who did so much buying and organising for the day.

House Cross Country

Last Friday we held the House Cross Country run, it was great to see the parents in attendance cheering on all the competitors. Our school values were on show with the runners openly offering words of encouragement to each other and giving their all to make it to the end. Thank you to our wonderful PA members who supplied the fruit to the runners as they finished their long run.

From the results of the Cross Country, we now have a team heading off to Jells Park next Friday to compete in the SDSSA Cross Country. Go Syndal!

2026 Information Night / School Tours/Enrolments

On Monday night we enjoyed a successful 2025 Foundation Information Night. Prospective parents and students attended and were given an interactive journey, show casing all the fantastic learning opportunities available at our brilliant school. Our school captains Bella and Lewis did a fabulous job sharing their experiences with the parents.

If you have friends, neighbours or extended family joining us or looking to join us at Syndal South PS next year, please encourage them to get in touch to arrange a tour around our awesome school!

Mother’s Day Stall

The Parents Association will be holding the Mother’s Day Stall tomorrow Friday (9th May). If students would like to buy a gift, we ask that they bring their money in a named envelope. We also have the special Mother’s Day Raffle that will also be drawn Friday afternoon, tickets are available for $1 each.

Education Week

This year, Education Week runs from Monday 19th May to Friday 23rd May. This year's theme, Celebration of Cultures highlights the diversity of our communities and the importance of every child feeling safe and welcome at school.

Due to the Year 3 and 4 swimming program, we have postponed our special Education Week celebrations to Friday 6th June. On this day parents are welcome to attend from 2pm. There will be more information in our next newsletter.

Attitude to School Survey

It is now time to complete the annual Attitudes to School Survey. Our students in Years 4, 5 and 6 will have the opportunity to complete the survey providing valuable feedback to us. The survey is offered by the Department of Education to assist us to gain an understanding of students' perceptions and experience of school. The survey will be conducted in the week beginning Monday 2nd June.

School Uniform

As the days become shorter and colder it is a good time to check the winter school uniform supply. I do understand that some students feel the cold more than others which I can relate to as I feel the cold. If students wear a long sleeve t-shirt under their uniform for extra warmth, please make sure it is either yellow, black or bottle green, the same goes for tights and leggings.

Finally, I would like to wish all our mum’s and grandmother’s a very happy Mother’s Day on Sunday.
