Our LEAP Reading Program has kicked off in spectacular fashion with a visit from acclaimed author Gabriel Bergmoser. Gabriel delivered an incredible workshop, sharing the behind-the-scenes strategies that make stories compelling and unforgettable—I truly can’t rave enough about how inspiring the session was!

This term, our LEAP students will take on the exciting role of Shadow Judges for this year’s CBCA Book of the Year Awards. We’ve begun by exploring the question: What makes a book memorable? I shared with students the stories that have stayed with me long after I turned the final page, and invited them to do the same. Their enthusiasm and thoughtful reflections are already setting the tone for a term full of rich reading, critical thinking, and bookish joy.
