Prep
It's hard to believe that our Prep students have almost completed their first term of Primary School! We are so proud of the resilience, bravery and determination they have shown in transitioning so successfully to school.
Students have now started attending school every day of the week, after having the first five Wednesdays at home to rest and recover.
RAP Assembly
The Reconciliation Action Plan assembly was held on Tuesday 12th March. The Preps confidently presented an Acknowledgement of Country, complete with actions and some Auslan. They also were incredibly attentive and respectful audience members, as they listened to our special guest speakers and watched the others grades present their contributions. It was even noted by our special guests that our Preps were beautifully behaved. This was another proud moment for us!
We finished the assembly by sitting in front of either the Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander flag and having a photo with our special guests.
In our classrooms, we have displayed our Acknowledgement of Country, which we decorated with gum leaves around the outside. Students were inspired by the artwork from the picture books Finding Our Heart by Thomas Mayor and Welcome to Country by Joy Murphy Wandin.
In the classroom
We have been learning SO much in Prep! In reading, we have been learning our letter names and sounds, and learning how to blend these sounds to start reading. Students have been learning letter formations in writing and they are also starting to write their own sentences. Some students are even starting to write the sounds that they are hearing in words! In maths, we have been learning all about numbers and patterns. Have a look below at some of the beautiful teddy pattern quilts that we made. If you look closely, you may also see some of the students cuddled up in bed with their teddies!
In CBL, we have been learning about our Prep community, what makes us special and the contributions we can make to ensure that we have a happy and thriving Prep community.
As you can see, we have been doing a lot of learning! It's little wonder that students have needed their recovery day on Wednesday!
