Project Compassion
This year the College has the theme Piece by Piece. If I can take this idea and apply it to the Project Compassion boxes each family should have received last week, you may see that we can extend this concept to the wider world community.
There are approximately 584 students and around 70 staff currently enrolled at Mount Carmel. If everyone was able to return their Project Compassion box at Easter time (approx. 4 weeks time) with one dollar in it, CARITAS Australia would have $654. If everyone in a Catholic school in Tasmania donated one dollar then CARITAS Australia have around $20,000. If every person in a Catholic school in Australia contributed one dollar then CARITAS Australia would have $900,000.
The pieces fall into place very quickly that allow CARITAS to help those most in need. This is before people in Catholic parishes, hospitals and other organisations such as St Vincent de Paul contribute to Project Compassion. CARITAS supports approximately 1.5 million people across 36 countries. It is amazing how quickly the financial support for the most vulnerable can build up.
So please if you feel you could contribute one dollar (or more if you are able) please think of CARITAS Australia and all they do for others by returning your Project Compassion box later in the term. Piece by Piece we can make the world a better place for those most in need.
Receiving the Sacraments in the Sandy Bay Parish
Receiving the Sacraments in the Catholic tradition is an important and special way of us maturing in our understanding of the Catholic faith life. The Sandy Bay Parish are inviting any students from Year 3 upwards to register for the sacramental program that includes the Sacraments of Reconciliation, Confirmation and Communion. Below are the dates and times for each of the sacraments.
