Foundation News

The Foundation team hopes this newsletter finds you well and enjoying the journey of learning alongside your little ones.

Firstly, a big thank you to all the parents who joined us for our recent Information/Home Reading Tips Night. Your presence and participation truly enrich our school community. Your dedication to supporting your child's literacy development is invaluable, and we appreciate your commitment to their education.

In the classroom, our students have been buzzing with excitement over their take-home readers. It's wonderful to see their enthusiasm for reading growing each day. In small reading groups, they're beginning to employ strategies such as recognizing initial letters and using picture cues to read words. It's a joy to witness their progress and eagerness to learn.

This week, we've delved into the world of numbers with engaging subitising activities. Through games and hands-on experiences, our students are developing the ability to recognize small groups of numbers instantly, without the need for counting.

We're thrilled to announce the winners of the Bernie Trophy for the first time this year – a big congratulations to Foundation Avery! They've earned the most Bernie cards by showing responsibility, respect, and safety in and out of the classroom. Well done, Foundation Avery – keep up the fantastic work!

We also congratulate last week's classroom award winners.

In our Religious Education unit, 'God Knows Us and Loves Us,' students are exploring the theme of love in various contexts.

They're reflecting on how their families and friends make them feel loved, as well as discovering ways to show love to others.

Thank you for your continued support and partnership in your child's education.
