Principal's message

3rd Sunday in Lent.

Our Gospel and readings this week encourage us to focus our lives on worshiping God and treating others with respect and love.

Jesus in the temple Jn 2:13-25

Jesus went to the Temple in Jerusalem. There he found people selling animals and also the money changers sitting at their tables. With a whip he drove them out of the Temple and over turned the tables. “Stop making my Father’s house a market place!” Jesus said.

Jesus cleansed the Temple in Jerusalem, which was meant to be a place of prayer but had become corrupt. Jesus wanted people to pray freely.

We are also invited to contemplate the Ten Commandments and their significance in our lives. The teachings of the Commandments, are not just a set of rules, but a way of life that can help us to live as God would hope that we would.

Dear Parents

Gala Ball

Time is running out! Get your tickets fast!!!!!

Don’t miss the Gala Ball! Friday 15th March.

At the end of 2023 St. Bernard's school community engaged in a survey to capture information with the goal of school improvement.

One area focused on was Parent Engagement.

Our results were below our diocesan average of 31% with only 10% of parents responding that they have been involved with parent groups at our school.

In efforts to reverse this and to gain greater parent engagement, a group of parents initiated the Gala Ball to be held FRIDAY 15th March.

We urge parents to purchase their tickets for this event, enjoy a fabulous night out and to become more connected to other parents at the school.

NAPLAN

Next week our children begin their Naplan testing.

Feedback form Surveys from the end of 2023

For the past ten years Kirra Pendergast has been sharing her knowledge of how our children can be safe when using their digital devices.

This year we had a wonderful attendance from families for children in Grades three to six,  listen to Kirra present on the importance of social media and online safety.

Our School improvement surveys at the end of 2023 informed us that the effort  we have been working towards with Kirra is having the desired effect of keeping our children safe with responses such as:-

8.11 Have you been picked on by another student from school while online or on social media (Facebook, Snapchat, email, etc.) last term?*. 90% of children answered No.

In addition to this very pleasing response,  90% of our children also responded  that they had not stayed away from school due to feeling unsafe.

This is a very pleasing response from our children, which we aim to continue and to build on in the future.

Australian Teacher Aide Professional Standards

More wonderful feedback for our staff!

Our Learning Support Officers have been spending time sharpening their skills as a group of collaborative learners.  They have been participating in the Australian Teaching Assistant Professional Standards framework to support and build their professional growth.

Their amazing efforts have been identified and recognised across Australia for the efforts and dedication they have shown in their professional learning.

We are delighted with the acknowledge of their efforts and grateful for all that they do for our children.

Have a great week everyone
