Students and Food

Many of the students at Donvale Primary School live with medical conditions that can be serious and life threatening. We have a number of students who are anaphylactic or have severe allergies, and as a community we have an obligation to ensure all children are kept safe.

We kindly request the following:

  • Nuts and nut based products not to be brought to school. This includes Nutella and health bars with nuts as an ingredient.
  • No sharing of food. Please remind your child to only eat what is in their lunch box. This also includes not bringing in food treats to celebrate birthdays – no cake, cupcakes or lolly bags. We are happy to celebrate student’s birthdays, but without food. As an alternative please think about handing out stickers, stamps, bouncy balls, bubble wands, etc or donate a book to the class library.

Parents as Helpers Course

Research has shown that parents and carers who take an active role in their children’s school life increase their child’s ability to learn and have a positive effect on academic achievement.

At Donvale PS we encourage parents and carers to actively support student learning by becoming involved in a range of school and classroom activities.

This year we will be offering a Parents as Helpers course in person on

  • Friday 8th March at 1:50pm
  • Monday 25th March at 9:10am.

Please ring the office on 9842 3373 to book a spot as places will be limited. We will offer more sessions in Term 2.

Silly Sock Day to support Neurodiversity Week.

On Thursday 28th March, the last day of Term 1, students and staff are asked to wear "silly socks" to school along with their regular uniform. This will be a follow on event from Neurodiversity Week (18th-24th March). The SRC will be raising awareness for ASPECT autismspectrum.org.au and would appreciate a gold coin donation from every student participating in the silly sock madness. More information will be sent out by the SRC in the coming weeks.
