Principal's Update
Mr Brett Van Berkel
As we conclude Term 2, I want to take a moment to reflect on the incredible energy, commitment, and spirit that have defined the semester at Catholic College Sale. From vibrant classroom learning to engaging co-curricular activities, our students and staff have consistently demonstrated excellence, resilience, and a strong sense of community.
At our recent College assembly, we proudly acknowledged the outstanding contributions of our dedicated staff to Catholic Education. Special recognition was given to staff who have achieved 25+ years in Education: Ann Roffe, Jenny Hurst, Rosie Davidson, Cesar Forcadela and Rocky Toma. The following staff members have served an incredible 30+ years: Susan Hadden, Danuta Pomorski, Rebecca Sellings, Damien Hogan, Anthony Robbins, Jacinta Slattery, and Marian Lappin. Their commitment and care have shaped generations of learners and enriched our College community.
We also celebrated the achievements of our students who continue to represent Catholic College Sale with pride across the arts, sports, and community service. For a regional school, our students truly ‘punch above their weight’, consistently excelling in all areas. Congratulations to all who have achieved and contributed throughout Term 2!
Our Unit 3 & 4 students completed the General Achievement Test (GAT) and their exams, marking an important milestone in their academic journey. As they head into Term 3, they do so with greater confidence and clarity about their strengths and areas for growth.
A special shout-out to our Year 8 students who immersed themselves in Medieval Day, a hands-on experience filled with games, sword-making, and alchemy. It was a fun and educational way to bring history to life. Thanks to the Humanities Team and staff who supported this event.
As we conclude the first half of the year, I would like to extend my sincere gratitude to our dedicated staff, enthusiastic students, and supportive families for making my first six months as Principal so rewarding. Your warmth, collaboration, and commitment to our shared mission have made a lasting impression.
Looking ahead to Term 3, we are excited to host key College events, including the Peace Mass, a beautiful celebration of unity and hope; and the Pathways Evening, which will provide valuable insights and guidance for students planning their future learning and career paths.
Thank you once again for a wonderful Semester 1. I look forward to continuing our journey together in Semester 2 and wish everyone a safe, restful, and well-deserved break. May it be a time of renewal and joy.
Kind regards,
Brett Van Berkel
