Principal's Message
From the Desk of Kathy Nott - Term 2, Week 10
Good afternoon, Parents/Carers,
We have had a great term with many activities and achievements across the board in sport, public speaking, spelling and dance. This week is again very busy as we celebrate NAIDOC week and our Fitness-a-thon. I would like to wish everyone a safe and restful term break and look forward to a busy and productive Term 3.
Parent/Teacher Interviews
Parent/Teacher Interviews will take place again this week. Thank you to all parents/carers who have visited our teachers last week. For those with times booked this week, we would appreciate if you could be on time for your appointment as this assists us in making the process run smoothly and not have parents/carers waiting. If for any reason you are running late or cannot make it, please advise the school office and our office staff will let the teacher know.
School Athletics Carnival
We had a great day at our annual School Athletics Carnival last Friday, 27th June at David Taylor Oval. Thank you to all of our Parents/Carers who assisted us in getting your children to and from the oval and cheering on our students as they participated in the events on the day. Thank you to the P&C for running a canteen and for everyone who supported our P&C by purchasing lunch. Congratulations to those students who are off to represent Werris Creek Public School at the Quirindi Zone Athletics Carnival that will be held on Tuesday, 29th July at the Tamworth Regional Athletics Centre. Stay tuned for the results of our Athletics Champions at our next assembly in Term 3, Week 4.
NAIDOC Week
As I have already mentioned, this week we mark NAIDOC week at Werris Creek Public School. This year's theme is "The Next Generation - Strength, Vision and Legacy". Our Yr 4/5/6W students attended Walhallow Public School yesterday to participate in their celebrations and the annual NAIDOC Cup. Congratulations to our school who won the NAIDOC Cup. Thank you to all of our parents/carers who transported our students, without you we cannot make these events possible. Yr 4/5/6W will also attend the Werris Creek MPS to visit residents and participate in their NAIDOC celebrations and sausage sizzle today. We thank both Walhallow Public School and Werris Creek MPS for the invitation and the opportunity to celebrate with you. This morning, we celebrated NAIDOC with our annual flag raising assembly and cake cutting. It was great to see those in attendance and thank you to Mr Mitcham Neave for addressing our assembly. Tomorrow, all students will participate in a rotation of activities relating to NAIDOC and this year's theme "The Next Generation - Strength, Vision & Legacy".
Life Skills Meal Deal
I would like to personally thank everyone who has purchased a Meal Deal from our school this term. The students have had a great time and learned some valuable skills. A big thank you to Ms Saunders who has worked with our students this term. We will continue to bring you some great meals in Term 3, with our first being Spaghetti Bolognese and Choc Marshmallow Slice on the first day back for Term 3. Order forms will go out tomorrow, and we would appreciate them back by the end of Term 2, however, we will still accept orders on the first day back of Term 3.
Fitness-a-thon
We will be going out with a bang this Friday, 4th July 2025 (Last day of Term 2) with our Fitness-a-thon at 1:30pm. Our students have been training hard to make this event a great one. Come join us for an afternoon of fun and cheer on our students. Our highest fundraisers will be awarded with a free Life Skills Meal Deal in Term 3.
Turn Up Awards
Congratulations to our Turn Up Award winners for Week 9 who received a canteen voucher to purchase lunch at the canteen in Term 3:
K/1B - Summer
2/3O - Ruby
4/5/6W - Jackson
Kind regards
