YEAR 5/6 NEWS
Week 11
As we wrap up a fantastic Term 2, we’d like to reflect on the rich learning experiences over the past eleven weeks.
As writers, students have explored various writing styles, including newspaper articles, poetry, and text analysis. They’ve strengthened their voice, identified authorial choices and developed vivid imagery through poetic language. Our focus on spelling routines has also helped sharpen their editing and proofreading skills, supporting confident and independent writing.
As researchers, students developed their understanding of migration, which sparked deep curiosity and thoughtful discussions. Students examined migration stories through various lenses - historical, cultural and personal. We were thrilled to welcome many of you into the classroom to view their completed newspaper articles. Thank you for your support and encouragement - it meant a lot to the students!
As mathematicians, this term, students expanded their understanding of 3D objects, calculated area and perimeter, and explored the relationships between decimals and fractions. Time concepts were also featured, and students developed confidence in interpreting timetables and solving real-world problems.
We look forward to inviting parents to our Student-led Conversations this coming Thursday, July 3rd, during which students will showcase their learning. This is a reminder to prepare your child's costumes for the 'Dance till you drop' concert. Please see below for some inspiration.
Bottoms: Light/Blue Denim (can be shorts or jeans - if they do not have denim, light coloured pants will suffice)
Tops: White t-shirt
Shoes: White sneakers (if your child does not own white sneakers, any will suffice)
A big congratulations to our Boys AFL 9’s and our Girls Netball Teams who made it to the finals for the Coburg District, both teams put on a great game and showed great sportsmanship. Unfortunately, neither team will advance to the next round.
