DANCE TIL YOU DROP DANCE PERFORMANCES

We are excited to invite families to our dance performance on Thursday, August 7th, which will take place in the school hall. To ensure all families have the opportunity to see their child perform, we will run two performance sessions at 5:30 and 7:00 pm.

We kindly ask that each family attend only one session to ensure all families have the opportunity to enjoy the performance. This is a family-only event.

Students have been working hard with an instructor from Dance Til You Drop each week, learning choreography, practising teamwork, and building confidence to perform. We can’t wait for you to see their energy and enthusiasm shine through!

All students will perform at both concerts, so we kindly request that families drop them off before the first concert with a snack and a drink bottle, and collect them after the second concert concludes. Details of the drop-off and pick-up times and arrangements will be sent closer to the date. Your child’s classroom teacher will send through details for costumes and props for the performance.

A booking link to book tickets will be sent via the nForma Parent Portal.

We look forward to a wonderful evening of dance and celebration!

What’s been happening?

Daily Reviews

This year, we’ve been developing Daily Reviews as part of our teaching across the school. Based on research, including Rosenshine’s Principles of Instruction, these brief 5 to 8 minute reviews, held at the start of each lesson, help children revisit and reinforce key learning, such as spelling, vocabulary, and important content. This approach supports memory, checks for understanding, and ensures that key knowledge is firmly embedded.

A daily review serves several purposes for both students and teachers., contributing to a more effective and focused learning environment.

Reinforces Learning

  • Reviewing what students have learned helps solidify concepts, reinforcing the material and making it easier for students to recall and apply it in the future.

Identifies Gaps in Understanding

  • A quick review allows both students and teachers to spot any areas where students may still be struggling. It provides an opportunity to address confusion before it escalates.

Provides Opportunities for Reflection

  • It encourages students to reflect on their own learning.

Keeping minds active over the holidays

As we head into the school holidays, it’s a great opportunity for children to enjoy a well-earned rest while still keeping their minds gently engaged. Reading is one of the simplest and most beneficial activities children can do at home, whether it’s a favourite storybook, a non-fiction title, or even an audiobook.

Don’t forget that families have access to Sunshine Online (login details: username - stfidelis, password - read123) where children can read levelled or decodable books that match their current reading stage. It's a great way to practise reading, work on fluency and build comprehension.

A visit to your local library is a fun free outing to discover new books, take part in reading challenges, or join in with story times and craft activities.

Children can also keep their writing skills ticking over by keeping a simple holiday journal or diary, or even writing postcards or letters to friends and family. Just a few sentences a day can make a big difference.

Finally, revisiting some of the spelling patterns and word lists your child has learned so far this year is a helpful way to keep things fresh in their mind. A little revision can go a long way in building confidence.

BUONGIORNO!

Salve a tutti! (Hello to all).

Wow! We are now in the final week of this trimestre (term). Only a few giorni (days) to go before our vacanze invernali (winter holidays). As we look back, I think we can all agree it has been a long term but one filled with many exciting and memorable events that we can treasure forever. 🙂

 Buon Viaggio e Buone Vacanze

I would also like to take this opportunity to wish all the families that will be travelling overseas during the holidays… and those that are already there now, BUON VIAGGIOBUONE VACANZE!!! (Have a good trip and happy holidays). Many of these children have quite happily told me that they will be travelling to Italia as part of their holidays this year, I wish it was me too. 😀 I hope you enjoy the many new and interesting places you get to visit, the food you get to taste and of course the summer sunshine you get to enjoy. Plus, what a perfect place to practice your italiano… Buon divertimento! I look forward to hearing all about your vacanze on your return to scuola (school).

Even if you are not going away during these holidays, just take this time to recharge your batteries and be ready for more great learning next term. 😀

Buone vacanze a tutti!! (Happy holidays everyone).
