Dear Members of the Glen Waverley Primary School Community,
I trust all is well with you and your family and welcome to this fortnight’s newsletter where so much is shared about our wonderful school.
As per usual, if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me on 9802 9938 or via email at frank.catalano@education.vic.gov.au
As always, I find it difficult to believe that we are about to reach the halfway point of the 2025 academic year whilst also reflecting on all the wonderful learning opportunities the children have experienced. May I take this opportunity to thank all the members of our school community for the unwavering support you provide as this does make an enormous difference to the children’s development, and I look forward to this continuing next semester.
I am thrilled to report that Ms. Cupo gave birth to baby Harvey on the 15th of June. Harvey weighed 2.6kg and both mum and bubs are doing very well. We look forward to seeing Ms. Cupo and Harvey ASAP. Congratulations Stacey, Andrew and the extended family.
Our chess team participated in the Northern Star Primary Open Zonal competition last Thursday and I am very proud to report that they placed 1st.
Congratulations to the following children for their outstanding individual efforts too:
Well done everyone, keep up the amazing effort, skill and persistence as we are all incredibly proud of you!
On Thursday 12th June, we held our annual ‘open morning’, and it was wonderful to see so many parents and extended family members in our school as the children showcased their learning. Congratulations to the CIS Captains, Ms. Seach and Ms. Singh for their outstanding organisation and a sincere thank you to the children for the fabulous manner in which presented their learning and, most importantly, discussed how their cultural festivities and events are similar and different to their home country!
Well done and thank you everyone!
Shenelle (Year 3) loves practicing and competing in Rhythmic Gymnastics competitions and it has been amazing to see her growth and development over the past year. Last year, Shenelle competed at Level 2, in the junior development category but this year she is competing in the Development Level which is equal to Level 5 in Rhythmic Gymnastics levels. And, to indicate how much she has improved, she is competing against gymnasts who are three years above her age.
This month she had participated in two competitions, the Diamond Cup organised by Glen Iris Gymnastics, and she managed to secure 6th place in the freehand routine and 4th place in the hoop routine.
Last Sunday she participated in Prahran Challenge organised by Prahran Gymnastic Club and she placed 6th in both freehand and ball routines.
Well done and congratulations Shenelle as it is wonderful to see how much you have improved. We look forward to you showcasing your skills at a school assembly at some stage!
The school holidays are an opportune time to complete tasks throughout our school and during the break we are hoping to:
I look forward to sharing some photos in the next newsletter.
Please be advised that our school will not be implementing vacation care these holidays as enrolments are low. If you need care, please refer to Camp Australia’s website and find a setting that suits your family. Fingers crossed that we will be able to provide a vacation care service during the September holidays.
