Welcome to Learning in 1C

This term, 1C have been exploring the big question: How do my choices affect living things? Through hands-on investigations and real-time observations, we’ve learned what plants and animals need to survive and thrive.
Our classroom has transformed into a mini science lab, complete with a class butterfly and our very own lettuce-growing experiment. We carefully set up our lettuce scraps in clear containers and placed them near the window. Since then, we’ve been recording our observations, noting the colour, shape, and any exciting new growth.
Each day, we observe small changes and use scientific vocabulary to describe what we see. When reflecting on their learning, 1C students shared:
Meera: “It starts growing leaves from the inside, and the outside leaves grow wider.”
Aaryansh: “The tiny baby roots come out.”
Austin: “The old outside leaves are turning black.”
