Success Criteria

Dear Parents and Carers,

This term, our classrooms are focusing on the use of Learning Intentions to develop Success Criteria. Success Criteria are explicit, measurable benchmarks that detail what our young people need to know, understand, or be able to do to demonstrate their learning. They break down broader learning intentions into specific, actionable steps, providing a clear roadmap for both our young people and our skilled, helpful adults.

By co-constructing Success Criteria with our young people, we empower them to take greater responsibility for their learning. This collaborative approach enhances their engagement and motivation, as they have a clear understanding of what is expected and how to achieve it. Furthermore, Success Criteria facilitate constructive feedback from skilled, helpful adults and peers, enabling our young people to monitor their progress and identify areas for improvement.

What is happening around the school this term!

This term, our Kindergarten reading groups have been buzzing with excitement as young learners embark on a joyful adventure into the world of reading.

During our Stage 1 Literacy Block, our young people have engaged in hands-on activities that build essential reading and writing skills, practicing sentence construction, participating in phonics games, and exploring language through play-based learning.

Stage 2 has been exploring Grimsdon by Deborah Abela, and recently delved deeper into the narrative by creating and presenting character interviews, bringing the story's inhabitants to life.

Our Stage 3 young people have been producing captivating videos, showcasing their insights from their book studies.
