PERFORMING ARTS

As Term 2 comes to a close, students in Years 3–6 have been putting their drama skills to the test by creating short silent films inspired by the classic comedies of Charlie Chaplin and Laurel and Hardy. After writing their scripts, students filmed their scenes, applied silent film effects, and added title cards and background music—resulting in some instant classics! We look forward to sharing a few of these at our next school assembly.

Meanwhile, students in Foundation to Year 2 have been using drama to bring stories to life. From well-known fairy tales to original scenes they've created themselves, their performances have been full of imagination and energy. These too have been captured on film—so keep an eye on Seesaw for updates!

Our Year 5 and 6 students are also hard at work rehearsing for the School Production in October. Everyone has now been cast and is learning their lines with great enthusiasm. According to Jess, our writer and director, everything is going extremely well.

VISUAL ARTS

In Visual Arts, Foundation students explored the work of Aboriginal artist Rachael Sarra. They learnt about organic shapes and Aboriginal symbols that help tell stories, using cut paper and oil pastels to create their own meaningful artworks.

Grade 1/2 students were inspired by illustrator Clare Young and her charming, collaged snails. They identified different patterns and are now designing their patterned snails using collage techniques.

Grade 3/4 students are excited to bring home their ceramic pinch pots. After weeks of hard work shaping and glazing, their beautiful creations are ready to share with family.

Grade 5/6 students have used their understanding of one-point perspective to design their dream bedrooms, applying vanishing points and converging lines to give their drawings a 3D effect.
