Last Thursday, students had the opportunity to eat delicious Greek Donuts 😋

We'd like to address a special THANK YOU to some of our great Year 5/6s who helped preparing and serving those delicious treats. We could not have done it without them!

A big thanks to Tate, Clem M, Lucia and Bella!

RIPPONLEA PRIMARY SCHOOL REVIEW - HELP SHAPE OUR NEXT CHAPTER

Every four years, Victorian government schools participate in a School Review—a valuable opportunity to reflect on past achievements, identify areas for growth, and shape the direction of future learning. Ripponlea Primary School is preparing for our next review, which will take place in Term 3.

Since 2021, our school has been working towards three key improvement goals:

🔹 1. Improve student learning outcomes

We focused on developing consistent, high-quality teaching practices across the school, with a particular emphasis on literacy and numeracy. This included the introduction of a whole-school instructional model and targeted intervention programs.

🔹 2. Strengthen student voice and agency

We empowered students to take ownership of their learning, make decisions, and actively contribute to school life—whether through leadership roles, peer support programs, or classroom initiatives.

🔹 3. Support student wellbeing

We prioritised mental health and wellbeing through positive behaviour frameworks, inclusive practices, and social-emotional learning programs.

As part of the School Review process, a review team—including external educators, Department of Education representatives, and school leaders—will visit our school to observe, engage with the community, and analyse data.

Importantly, all members of our school community will have a voice. The review team will speak with students, staff, families, and School Council members to gain a well-rounded understanding of our school’s progress and priorities.

It’s a rewarding and exciting process that reflects our ongoing commitment to continuous improvement—and we would love for you to be involved!

Share your voice!

To help us prepare, we’re inviting families to complete a short online survey. Your feedback will help inform our future goals and directions.

🗓 Survey closes: Friday 4th July

Thank you for being an essential part of the RPS community. Your insights truly matter.

STUDENT, TEACHER & PARENT/CARER CONFERENCES - CELEBRATING GROWTH & PROGRESS

As we approach the end of Term 2, we are preparing for our Student, Teacher & Parent/Carer Conferences, a valuable opportunity to reflect on student growth and set goals for future learning.

Over the past six months, students across all year levels have been working diligently towards their personalised goals in literacy, numeracy, and personal development

These goals have guided their learning journeys, helped them reflect on their progress, and celebrate both the big and small milestones achieved along the way.

To support this reflection process, all families will receive a Semester 1 Report, providing a summary of student progress across the full breadth of the Victorian Curriculum. These reports will be available on Friday, 27th June, before the final week of term.

Our upcoming conferences are a chance to explore this progress further in a three-way conversation between student, teacher, and family. Students will be invited to share what they’ve accomplished so far and what skills they’re continuing to develop. It’s a powerful way to build ownership of learning and to celebrate success together.

Conference Format & Bookings

Conferences will run across the final week of Term 2. Families will be able to book appointments using our School Interviews online booking system, which will be released shortly.

Each meeting will run for 15 minutes, structured as follows:

  • First 5 minutes: Student-led reflection (optional participation based on family preference)
  • Final 10 minutes: Confidential discussion between teacher and parents/carers

We encourage families to decide whether their child will stay for the full duration or only participate in the student-led segment.

Conference Schedule

Monday 30 June:

  • Foundation Student, Teacher & Parent Conferences (8:45am – 4:45pm)

Tuesday 1 July:

  • Year 1/2 Student, Teacher & Parent Conferences (8:45am – 4:45pm)

Wednesday 2 July:

  • Year 3/4 Student, Teacher & Parent Conferences (8:45am – 4:45pm)

Thursday 3 July:

  • Year 5/6 Student, Teacher & Parent Conferences (8:45am – 4:45pm)

These conversations are a vital part of your child’s learning journey. We thank all families for their ongoing support and look forward to seeing you during conference week.

CULTURAL HERITAGE FESTIVALS & CELEBRATIONS

Dear RPS Families,

We would love you to contribute to our school’s display outside the office entrance with displays of your cultural festivals. At Ripponlea PS we love to know about and celebrate our diverse families’ cultural heritage.

We now have started a calendar of cultural festivals which celebrate our diverse cultural heritage and we encourage you to contribute to our display outside the office when your family is celebrating a cultural festival.

Please feel free to add to talk to Romany Tauber or Kara Merrin about adding your family’s festival celebrating your cultural heritage to our cultural heritage festival calendar, or simply bring in your display to put outside the office on the cabinet. Note there is limited space so talking to Romany or Kara will help us coordinate and make sure there is space for all!

NDIS THERAPY ON-SITE:  POLICIES AND PROCESSES

In seeking and encouraging close partnerships with families and carers, the school often receives parent requests for NDIS funded providers to:

  • deliver funded therapy on school grounds
  • undertake observations
  • participate in planning and support group meetings

Ripponlea Primary School strives to support these requests whenever practical and safe to do so, with the decision ultimately resting with the school Principal.

The DET NDIS Funded Therapy in Schools Policy provides guidance on this process.

Families and carers wishing to organise on-site therapy to take place during the school day are asked to follow the 4 step process as outlined below.

1. Parents, in collaboration with the chosen provider, submit information about the proposed therapy and provide consent, allowing the Principal to make transparent, consistent, and informed decisions. This is done using the NDIS Funded Therapy Request and Consent form

2. The Principal considers the request in light of all relevant factors and makes a decision as to whether the therapy can be provided on school grounds. The decision is communicated to the therapist and the family. Key considerations include:

3. If approved, appropriate arrangements are put in place. This includes ensuring relevant forms and agreements are completed, and that scheduled therapy times fit within the Specialist timetable and availability of appropriate spaces.

4. A licence agreement is signed by school council, containing important provisions that:

- require the therapist to hold appropriate insurances

- require the therapist to comply with reasonable instructions and requests

- allow the principal to put in place appropriate supervision and information sharing arrangements.

Parents and carers who would like more information regarding an on-site therapy arrangement, or further support with any part of the process, are encouraged to contact Marta Campell directly.

BEFORE SCHOOL & AFTER SCHOOL SUPERVISION

Student safety at Ripponlea Primary School is our highest priority and the safe and appropriate supervision of students is an important element of our duty of care to students. Part of this duty is ensuring parents and students are aware of our student supervision arrangements before and after school.

Before school: School grounds are supervised at 8:45am to 9:00am. Only the basketball court play area is supervised. Students are not permitted on the eastern-end playground (oval) before 9:00am.

After school: School grounds are supervised at 3:30 pm to 3:45 pm. Only the basketball court play area is supervised. Students are not permitted on the eastern-end playground (oval) after 3:30pm unless participating in a pre-arranged activity e.g.  Sports X.

NB: Students on school grounds outside these times will not be supervised (unless they are attending a before or after school care program or supervised extracurricular activity.

Students must be under the supervision of a parent/carer if they are on the school grounds before 8.45am or after 3.45pm. RPS will not accept responsibility for students arriving at school prior to 8.45am or remaining at school after 3.45pm.

Parents/carers are requested to ensure that students do not attend school outside of these supervised times, unless they are attending before- or after-school care, or a pre-arranged supervised activity (e.g. Sport practice - Netball/Basketball R).

Families are encouraged to contact the Principal or Assistant Principal on 0395275728 or refer to Yard Duty & Supervision Policy for more information about the before and after-school care facilities available to our school community or if you would like any further information about our student supervision arrangements.

For a copy of our school’s Yard Duty and Supervision Policy, parents can access a copy of the full policy on the school’s website, the COMPASS parent portal, or contact the school office. This policy includes Ripponlea Primary School’s student supervision arrangements across the school day, including before and after school.
