INFANTS INDIGENOUS GARDEN WORKING BEE - VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
You may have noticed the amazing new garden and totem poles at our Infants' Pick Up. We are almost finished but are looking for a few helping hands to paint a mural (under the expert guidance of Mrs Gwalter!) and to complete some garden work.

Cultural Immersion Groups
At St Edward's School, we provide weekly Cultural Immersion lessons for our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students. The lessons are programmed and taught by our Aboriginal Education Assistants. Each grade will have one lesson a week focusing on a significant part of Aboriginal Education and Culture.

Word of the Week
Students are encouraged to continually use the "Word of the Week" in context during class, expanding their oral language skills, one word at a time! Each time a student uses our 'Word of the Week' in the classroom, they will earn a point. The student with the most points at the end of the term will receive a book prize to further expand their vocabulary.
We will publish our Word of the Week on Facebook and in the newsletter. Please encourage and support your child to use this word at home.

Grandparents' Day
We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to all the grandparents and special friends who joined us for our Grandparents’ Day liturgy and picnic on the grounds last Friday. Grandparents hold a treasured place in our school community, offering love, wisdom, and encouragement across generations. It was wonderful to see the joy on our students’ faces as they welcomed you into their school life. Your presence made the day truly memorable for all our students and staff.
100 Days of School
Last Friday, our Kindergarten students marked a special milestone - 100 days of Kinder! To celebrate, the children dressed up as delightful 100-year-olds, complete with walking sticks, grey hair and all the charm of centenarians. Their enthusiasm and creativity were truly heart-warming. In addition to their fun costumes, the students and families engaged in various themed activities, all centred around the number 100. It was a memorable experience for all, and we are excited to continue this journey of discovery and growth with these amazing young learners. A big thank you to our wonderful Kinder teachers and EA's for their organisation of this fun-filled day!
WANTED - Clothing Pool Donations
Lost Property
Our lost property boxes are regularly cleared by staff and labelled items are returned to their rightful owner. We are finding that many items in lost property have not been labelled. We ask for your support in ensuring that every single item of clothing, lunch containers, drink bottles etc. are clearly labelled. As parents and teachers, it is important that we not only encourage our children to take responsibility for their belongings, but also to be independent in seeking to locate items should they be misplaced.
Please also take the time to regularly check your child's clothing, particularly jackets and jumpers, for the correct name. Often students accidentally take home another student's item of clothing from the bag racks. We appreciate your support with this.
Supervision of Students
A reminder that school commences at 8.45am and ends at 3.00pm.
Please note that supervision of students commences at 8.15am and families are kindly asked not to drop off children before this time. It is not appropriate for children to be at school before this time with no supervision. If your child/ren require care before 8.15am you may like to consider before-school care here at school with Esteem.
Application for Extended Leave - 10 days or more
Family holidays and travel are no longer considered under the Exemption from School Procedures. Travel outside of vacation periods is now counted as an absence for statistical purposes. Please contact the school office if your child/ren will be away from school for 10 days or more, as an application form will need to be completed and approved at the discretion of the Principal.
Esteem Kids
Before-school care is available in the Infants Hall for both Primary and Infants students. It operates from 7:00 am to 8:30 am, Monday to Friday during the term, and includes breakfast.
After-school care is available in the Infants Hall for Infants students only from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm, Monday through Friday. Our Primary after-school care operates from the Art Room for primary students only from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm, Monday through Friday. Afternoon tea is also provided.
