Principal Reflections

Dear Parents and Carers,

One of the wonderful things about St Edward's is seeing our staff share their passions with our students. Mr Millman is our resident Chess enthusiast and expert, and through his dedication and encouragement, many of our students have developed a love for the game and the strategic thinking it inspires.

Yesterday, 29th July, 12 of our Stage 3 students proudly represented St Edward's Primary School at the Tamworth Zone of the NSW Primary Schools Chess Competition. Our students competed as three teams against other schools from across the region at Tamworth Public School.

We are incredibly proud of these students for embracing this opportunity to challenge themselves, demonstrate teamwork and represent our school with pride.  We also extend our thanks to Mr Millman and Mr Jack O'Neill for their time, enthusiasm and expertise, which they bring to our Chess program, providing opportunities for our students to develop valuable problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.

You have all made St Edward's proud!

Congratulations Baylen

Congratulations to Baylen, who recently represented Polding at the Catholic Schools NSW (CSNSW) Netball Trials.

Baylen was an outstanding representative of both himself and St Edward's, demonstrating excellent sportsmanship, commitment and a positive attitude throughout the two-day event. The Polding team embraced every opportunity to learn new skills, support one another and grow together as a team.

The team finished in 7th place, showing significant improvement across the two days of competition. We are incredibly proud of Baylen's achievement and the way he represented our school with pride, determination and respect.

Learning Success

Our Year 5 mathematicians have been mastering the Area Model for multiplication. By breaking big numbers into manageable chunks, drawing grid "lands," and solving step by step, they’ve turned multi-digit problems into a breeze.

It has been fantastic seeing the "aha!" moments light up the room as students map out their thinking and share their strategies with one another. Seeing them celebrate each other's successes and explain how they arrived at their answers shows real depth of learning and fantastic teamwork.

High-fives to our Year 5 students, proving every day that no problem is too big when you have the right tools!

Our Year 6 classrooms have been alive with rich conversations and meaningful learning as students explored the significance of Pentecost and the gift of the Holy Spirit.

Through Scripture, prayer, discussion and creative learning experiences, students discovered how the Holy Spirit guided the disciples with courage and continues to guide us today in the way we live, learn and care for others.
